This is KONG STRONG WILD POWER CASSIS, a private label energy drink from the German supermarket chain "LIDL."
The cassis flavor was released in Germany in 2017 and has since been sold in various countries as a long-time popular product. However, I had never encountered it in any country until now. In July 2024, I was fortunate enough to find it at a LIDL store in Slovakia.
The KONG STRONG series is known for offering high-quality flavors at a low price, so what kind of flavor does this new addition have? I'm excited to find out!

Flavor of KONG STRONG WILD POWER CASSIS
When opened, a sweet aroma resembling apple and apricot wafts out. I couldn't quite associate this scent with cassis flavor.
Upon tasting, the drink offers a refreshing, sweet and sour apple and apricot flavor, with a slight blueberry-like taste lingering in the aftertaste. The smooth and mild sweetness blends beautifully with a floral aroma that fades away.
The drink lacks the sourness and fragrance typically associated with cassis, making it a stretch to call it a cassis flavor. However, it can be enjoyed as a complex and evolving rich fruit flavor, blending an apple-based juice with multiple fruits, without any unpleasant aftertaste.
At just 0.39 euros, I was surprised by how delicious and dynamic the fruit flavor was. While it may not live up to the cassis name, it still deserves a high rating on its own merits.

Design of KONG STRONG WILD POWER CASSIS
The design features a purple base color inspired by cassis, with the iconic half-face of a gorilla, a common design element in the KONG STRONG series.
It shares the vivid color theme with the recently released KONG STRONG WILD POWER ZERO WATERMELON.
I encountered the KONG STRONG WILD POWER CASSIS in Slovakia in 2024.
The striking color made it stand out on the shelf, and since I hadn't seen it in other countries before, I was able to grab it without hesitation. It reminded me of the vivid-colored cocktails from the Czech Republic that had been released previously. I feel like I got to see another unique feature of the KONG STRONG series from Eastern Europe.
