KONG STRONG WILD POWER ZERO
Released in Germany in 2022, KONG STRONG WILD POWER ZERO is an energy drink from the supermarket chain's private brand (PB).
It is sold alongside the already released classic product KONG STRONG SUGAR FREE, and now the ZERO version has been introduced. You may be wondering what exactly the difference is. It's a curious product, and even when I bought it, I couldn't quite tell the difference. Let’s open it up and give it a try.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of KONG STRONG WILD POWER ZERO
When opened, a distinct classic flavor aroma bursts out. It doesn’t seem much different from the existing sugar-free version. Let’s give it a try.
When you take a sip, you get a classic flavor with a sweet aftertaste, which is rare in Europe. The tanginess is not too strong, which is a surprising touch for a European flavor.
In Europe, most sugar-free classic flavors are made less sweet to compensate for the reduction in sugar, but KONG STRONG ZERO retains its sweetness, delivering a crisp and easy-to-drink classic flavor.
A slight aftertaste of artificial sweeteners lingers, but it doesn’t taste unpleasant and instead provides a unique refreshing note that’s enjoyable.
Compared to the KONG STRONG SUGAR FREE, this version is sweeter, and many might feel it’s easier to enjoy without the typical zero-sugar taste. I wonder which one is more popular in Germany!?
Energy Ingredients of KONG STRONG WILD POWER ZERO
It contains 80mg of caffeine and taurine. This is the standard amount for a 250ml can. For those who think the KONG STRONG series offers the same ingredients at a third of the price of major brands, this could be an appealing option.
Design of KONG STRONG WILD POWER ZERO
The can has a matte black base with a design in white, which is consistent with the KONG STRONG series.
The large white area clearly indicates that this is a sugar-free product.
Here’s how it looks next to the classic product, KONG STRONG SUGAR FREE.
Both are marked with a color scheme that indicates they’re sugar-free, but it’s hard to tell what the difference is just by looking at the packaging.
In fact, several limited-edition sugar-free flavors have been released in different countries based on this white-and-black design. The new zero-sugar series, including this one, seems to be expanding with more sweetness and umami, likely reflecting the trends in the U.S. over the last few years.
Even in Lidl stores, the KONG STRONG series differs by country, and since the private brand energy drinks don't have an official website with detailed information, the thrill of discovering new varieties on-site is part of the fun. If you're in Europe, make sure to stop by Lidl to check it out.
