This is a review of Kronik ENERGY BLUE CITRUS, part of the Kronik Energy Drink series that emerged during the American energy drink boom. It’s one of the newer additions to the Kronik lineup.

Kronik was a brand with a small but dedicated fanbase. However, it’s unfortunate that today, even in the U.S., many people don’t know it ever existed.

All Kronik energy drinks come with cans that are stretched tight as if ready to burst. Upon opening, the carbonation bursts out forcefully, even though a long time has passed since production.

When poured into a glass, I was surprised to see a green color, even though it’s called Blue Citrus. The color is stunning—reminiscent of Red Bull Kiwi and SEMTEX Cactus with its beautiful hue.

Taking a sip, it delivers a strong, sour green apple flavor. The intense tanginess and sweetness, combined with the refreshing apple aroma, create an unexpectedly delicious combination!

The green apple note has a satisfying fruitiness, with the distinct sourness and fragrance filling your mouth. It offers not only a bold punch of flavor but also a refreshing sensation. The label reads “Refreshing Energy,” and it truly lives up to that name. The vibrant green color also adds to the refreshing feel (●´ω｀●).

Although the back of the can claims it’s a tropical flavor, it doesn’t have the complex mix of fruits typically found in tropical profiles. The taste feels quite different from what the label suggests, but the drink itself is impressively well-balanced and easy to enjoy. This tartness seems perfect for hot summer days.

It contains 150mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine, 200mg of glucosamine, 150mg of glucuronolactone, 100mg of guarana, 100mg of ginseng, 50mg of inositol, 50mg of milk thistle, and 50mg of ginkgo leaf. It’s interesting to see glucosamine included, and overall, the blend feels like they really went all out. It’s as if they just threw in every classic energy drink ingredient for good measure.

The barbed wire design gives off a totally cringe-worthy vibe. If Kronik had hit it big, perhaps this over-the-top style might have evolved into a “so-bad-it’s-cool” signature of the brand. Given how good the flavor is and how actively they were expanding the series, it’s a shame the brand never reached its full potential.

The tab is a blue color tab—a nice touch that reflects their serious attempt to establish Kronik as a genuine energy drink brand. Even now, I feel it’s a real loss that Kronik disappeared from the market.
