In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Sweet Yet Bitter Coffee
Despite being labeled "Bitter," it's actually quite sweet—just like many other "bitter" drinks. Powered Coffee Bitter is no exception; it's sweet and delicious. I usually drink my coffee black, brewed about 1.5 times stronger than usual, but sometimes I enjoy a sweeter coffee when I need a little energy boost. Compared to Café au Lait, it does have more of a bitter taste, but it still feels like a coffee milk drink.
When I'm completely drained, the extra sweetness of Café au Lait works best, but for a mildly sweet energy boost, Bitter is the way to go. Since I love coffee, I had no trouble enjoying Powered Coffee Bitter as well.
No Noticeable Taste of Energy Ingredients
After trying all the Powered Coffee variants, I can say that the energy ingredients—royal jelly, Siberian ginseng, jujube, and goji berries—are completely undetectable in the taste. If someone served this in a glass, I doubt anyone would recognize it as anything other than regular coffee. Well, except for the Black variant, which is a bit too weak.
It would be great if fortified coffee, similar to the vitamin D-enriched juices I used to drink in the U.S., became the norm.
Surprisingly Easy to Open
Since it's a steel can, it's quite sturdy, but the pull-tab is designed in a way that makes it very easy to open. That's all there is to it!
When you're opening three to four aluminum cans every day, you start noticing little differences like this... (;´∀`)
