LIVITA GO Malaysia
This is my review of LIVITA GO by Taisho Pharmaceutical, which I purchased in Malaysia in 2023.
The design gives off the feel of a Western energy drink with carbonation, and it comes in a 250ml can, which is becoming a trend in Southeast Asia. However, it seems that LIVITA GO was discontinued in 2024...

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of LIVITA GO
Upon opening the can, a sweet and sour classic flavor aroma along with a strong chemical smell bursts out. The liquid inside has a glowing transparent yellow color, typical of vitamin drinks. Now, let's take a sip.
As I take a sip, the light, crisp mouthfeel is complemented by a sweet and sour classic flavor, with a chemical scent wrapping around the taste. The aftertaste lingers with a flavor reminiscent of grape pulp.
While energy drinks in Southeast Asia tend to have a rich sweetness, LIVITA GO has a relatively standard flavor intensity, as its taste is more like a sweet and sour vitamin drink. The impactful part, however, is not the flavor but rather the intense chemical fragrance typical of Southeast Asian energy drinks.
The carbonation adds a refreshing touch, preventing the drink from feeling too heavy. If you imagine an Asian energy drink with carbonation, you might find it easier to picture the flavor.
Energy Ingredients of LIVITA GO
It contains 50mg of caffeine and 1000mg of taurine. No other energy ingredients are included.
Energy drinks from Southeast Asia often give the impression of containing large amounts of sugar, but LIVITA GO contains 19.5g of sugar in its 250ml can, which is a typical amount.
Design of LIVITA GO
The gold-colored can features the Japanese text "Lipovitan D" and the Malaysian brand name "LIVITA" logo.
Rather than evoking the image of an Asian nutritional drink, the design seems to lean towards a Western active energy drink, as evidenced by the silhouette of a sports figure on the front of the can.
The back of the can only displays ingredients and lacks any energy-related slogans or product concepts.
Instead of the typical short, thick 250ml can often seen in Asia, the slim 250ml can suggests an attempt to make it more aligned with Western-style energy drinks. Around this time, slim 250ml cans, including those of Red Bull, began appearing in various Asian countries.
