Originally launched by Coca-Cola in 1999 as "LIFE PLUS," the brand was later rebranded as "LIVE PLUS" after becoming a part of the Monster Energy family.
LIVE PLUS is a brand unique to New Zealand that is relatively unknown overseas, and it actually has a longer history than brands like Monster Energy and Rockstar.
In 2024, I had the opportunity to visit New Zealand for the first time, and I was finally able to experience a flavor that has been beloved for many years.

When opening the can, the scent of apple flesh is accompanied by a strong chemical smell. Could this be a chemical apple flavor!?
Upon tasting, a juicy and tart apple flavor that suggests the presence of apple juice fills the mouth, while the strong chemical scent envelopes the flavor, creating a distinct chemical apple experience.
While the chemical smell might make it seem like an artificial flavor, the natural sweetness and umami of the apple flesh come through so well that the apple and chemical notes blend surprisingly naturally.
The flavor doesn't carry the typical bitterness associated with chemical flavors, and the chemical note is simply an added scent of fragrance, which works quite well.
Even in the 500ml can, it is easy to drink, and since it offers that chemical sensation many people expect from energy drinks, it seems to have garnered a positive reception.

Considering the excellent flavor of LIVE PLUS TART APPLE, it would have been nice to see a design that reflects the high-quality apple flavor and the chemical notes, making the overall experience feel more in harmony with the product's essence. As it stands, the design feels a bit wasted.
