In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Lost Cadillac
Although this drink is quite old, the can was tightly packed, and as soon as I opened it, a burst of carbonation and a rich citrus soda aroma filled the air. The scent closely resembles the lime notes of the original AMP.
When poured into a glass, it revealed a classic energy drink-style neon lime green color—matching the can’s design perfectly. It looked exactly as expected and gave off a great vibe (●´ω`●)
*Although the can was tight, some content seemed to have leaked. At first, I wasn't sure which can had leaked, but the sticky, intense lime-green residue matched this drink’s color perfectly.*
The taste? It hits you with a thick, cough-inducing burst of lime-lemon sourness combined with a bold sweetness, creating a rich, soda-based citrus flavor. Similar to AMP’s citrus profile, but Lost Cadillac feels twice as heavy, delivering a much denser, richer punch.
Its strong aroma and throat-piercing sharpness remind me of Monster Energy’s Extra Strength Super Dry. It has that powerful, classic energy drink punch. Honestly, Lost Cadillac’s intense flavor and kick feel like they could have inspired Super Dry—it’s that close!
Energy Ingredients of Lost Cadillac
Caffeine 160mg, Taurine 2000mg, Carnitine, Ginseng, Guarana, Inositol, Maltodextrin—essentially the same energy blend as Monster. Nothing particularly notable here.
Lost Cadillac’s Design is Pure Monster Energy Style
Since it was made by Hansen, the back of the can features the familiar style of storytelling found on Monster Energy cans.
According to the description, Cadillac was inspired by Mexico (*though who knows if that’s true, lol*), which explains the skull-themed illustrations scattered across the design.
Today, Monster has many Mexico-inspired designs, but over time, their skull-themed artwork has become much more refined.
And of course, it has the signature green ring-pull tab—such a simple detail, yet it brings out that pure energy drink charm, doesn’t it? (*^_^*)
Looking at videos from that era, it seems Lost Cadillac had a solid presence in the energy drink scene back then.
