Monster Energy 4-packs to be released in limited stores and in limited quantities
The 4-can pack of Monster Energy, which is quite common overseas, was quietly released in Japan and caused quite a stir.
It's a better deal than buying individual cans, so be sure to grab the 4-can pack while you have the chance!
Don Quijote Exclusive, Limited Edition 4-Can Pack Released
The 4-can pack of Monster Energy was released without any prior announcement.
According to Asahi Soft Drinks, as of December 2019, the 4-can pack is sold exclusively at Don Quijote stores and is available in limited quantities. It’s not part of a special campaign product.
It’s also unclear whether the product is available at all Don Quijote locations nationwide, as it seems it’s not stocked everywhere. Perhaps due to the recent release, the two Don Quijote stores near me didn't have it in stock.
Monster Energy Original Cluster Pack Special Edition
The 4-can pack comes in a box containing 24 cans, packed in 6-can clusters, and was shipped as a “Monster Energy Original Cluster Pack Special Edition.”
A “cluster pack” refers to a paper-wrapped pack that holds multiple cans together, a common packaging for beer and other juices.
Easy-to-Open Lid
The lid of the 4-can pack is traditionally designed, making it easy to open. Unlike Red Bull’s packs, which can be tricky to open neatly, this is much easier.
Once opened, you’ll find 4 cans of Monster Energy Original inside.
The design is identical to the overseas packs, which makes it feel less like a local Japanese product—quite appealing!
Can You Believe It? The Pack Was Only 598 Yen (Excluding Tax)!
I thought it would cost around 800 yen (200 yen per can), but it was only 598 yen (excluding tax)! That’s a pleasant surprise.
When I asked other enthusiasts later, I found out that in another store, it was priced at 698 yen, indicating that the discount rate varies by store.
In any case, it’s a better deal than buying the cans individually with the added pack. However, it’s unclear how long it will be available, or whether it will become a regular product.
Looking Forward to Collaboration Packs!
In the past, we’ve seen many campaign items in Japan, such as cans with toppers. Now, with the release of the 4-can pack, maybe we can expect collaboration-design packs like those in overseas markets!?
Let’s hope for more exciting products from Monster Energy Japan!

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
