When you open the can, gas immediately escapes despite the drink being non-carbonated. Along with it, a wonderful roasted coffee aroma fills the air. I've been waiting for this aroma since the release of the JAVA series...

As I pour it into a glass, it foams up like a nitro coffee. By the way, this foam is created by nitrogen, not carbon dioxide. The color is also just right. I take a sip with high expectations!

Upon tasting, I think, “Oh! It’s not sweet!” Compared to North American energy coffees, there’s no cloying sweetness from sugar or milk, which is quite a shock. It tastes like a mildly sweet black coffee with a bitter flavor. Well, this is just normal coffee... but it’s different from the overly sweet JAVA series so far...

It’s not overly bitter, and there’s almost no acidity. Instead, it has a light taste. I do feel like it could have a bit more coffee richness, but the smooth texture from the nitrogen gives a moist and pleasant sensation while drinking.

SWEET BLACK is great at refrigerated temperatures, but it tastes even better with ice.

Even with ice, the creamy and smooth mouthfeel remains unchanged, and you can enjoy it from start to finish. It’s certainly very different from the previous JAVA MONSTER series. I never imagined a day would come when I’d be able to drink such a delicious coffee energy drink.

Energy Ingredients of JAVA MONSTER COLD BREW SWEET BLACK

It contains 200mg of caffeine, taurine, maltodextrin, inositol, and carnitine.

This can is introduced in the 500ml size, which is common in the U.S., but it actually contains only 400ml inside.

You can really notice the size difference compared to the 473ml cans.

However, the actual content is only 400ml.

The amount of coffee is just right. That being said, the caffeine content per 100ml is slightly higher, so you need to be careful.

Design of JAVA MONSTER COLD BREW SWEET BLACK

The contrast of black and gold is beautiful, and the colors and design give a sense of luxury. The large 500ml size also stands out among the 473ml cans in the U.S. It’s simple yet elegant, a great design.

The front of the can shows that it’s the JAVA MONSTER COLD BREW SWEET BLACK type, which gives a professional coffee vibe.

It says “Full Body” on the can, but in reality, it’s not that heavy, and I’d say it’s more on the lighter side. Personally, I would have preferred it to be a bit richer.

The back of the can also features a stylish sealing wax design shaped like the JAVA MONSTER logo. The combination of black, gold, and red gives it a refined and appealing atmosphere.

The tab is a bright gold one. This detail feels a bit simple. However, a black top with a red tab or a black top with a gold tab would also be a good combination!

This first JAVA MONSTER series with a luxurious taste, as reflected in its design, was delightful! It’s the first North American coffee energy drink that even Japanese people can enjoy.
