JAVA MONSTER NUT-UP
This is the JAVA MONSTER NUT-UP from 2008. It’s one of the easiest-to-drink coffee flavors in the JAVA series, but it has already been discontinued. It could have been the perfect sweet coffee energy drink in the JAVA line, which is such a shame, and it's disappointing that this flavor is no longer available (ヽ´ω`).

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of JAVA MONSTER NUT-UP
When I opened the can, I was surprised to still smell the coffee, which is rare for the sweet JAVA series. I wondered, "Did the JAVA series always have this kind of aroma?" and was a bit confused. ????
However, when I tried it, despite my concern that it might be too sweet, it turned out not to be overly sweet, and it left a nice coffee presence, which felt a bit strange for the JAVA series. ????
While it doesn’t have the typical bitterness or roasted aroma of coffee, it has a subtle blend of coffee, milk, and a hint of chocolate, with a faintly bitter taste. The unique overly sweet aftertaste typical of the JAVA series doesn’t linger much, which might explain the slight coffee-like flavor.
If I had known NUT-UP when I was living in the U.S., I might have occasionally enjoyed it as a coffee drink, because it’s a flavor that’s very easy to drink and appealing to Japanese tastes. Its absence now might be because the JAVA series in America generally leans toward sweetness and creaminess rather than bitterness.
Personally, I find this balance just right. (^_^;)
Energy Ingredients of JAVA MONSTER NUT-UP
It contains 188mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine, 500mg of ginseng, and other ingredients like carnitine and guarana. There's also a trace amount of coffee.
There aren’t any particularly special ingredients; it’s a pretty standard energy blend.
From JAVA MONSTER NUT-UP to TOFFEE
With the discontinuation of NUT-UP, it was replaced by TOFFEE in the same line. It’s common for JAVA products to change their names like this.
I can’t say for sure whether the two were exactly the same because I wasn’t able to try them side by side, but I definitely felt more of a coffee-like taste with NUT-UP. The two products were probably almost the same, but it’s hard to say after more than a year since I drank TOFFEE, and of course, it might have deteriorated a bit, which is disappointing. (´・ω・`)
