Monster Energy Absolutely Zero (Japan)
This is the Japanese version of Absolutely Zero. Since the packaging of the Japanese and American versions is different, I initially thought it was the low-carb version. With zero calories and zero sugar, it seems like an energy drink that could be recommended even during a diet (?). The major difference in ingredients compared to the original Monster Energy is that it doesn't contain D-Ribose.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor is Almost the Same as the American Version
The Japanese version of Absolutely Zero has been finished with almost the same flavor as the American version. The scent is still sweet, and the taste itself is sweet and rich. If you're going to savor it, drinking it at room temperature is definitely the best. However, I did notice a bit of a sweet-spicy kick. The American version of Absolutely Zero didn't seem to have that sweet-spicy flavor and was more focused on a heavy sweetness.
But due to the differences in the ingredient composition, I feel the Mogu-Mogu texture is a little weaker here. I was hoping for that Mogu-Mogu feeling with the Zero x Zero combination.
Still, the sweetness, scent, richness, and overall weight really make it feel like it's not a "Zero" product at all. I'm not sure how much they fine-tuned the prototypes, but I think it has a high rating. It’s the kind of quality I’d like other Zero products to aspire to.
Not Very Popular in Japan?
I guess it’s natural that the original flavor is the most beloved, but I’ve seen reviews where people said Absolutely Zero wasn’t very good. As an energy drink fan, I think it’s pretty amazing that they could pull off something like this in a Zero version. It really does maintain the essence of an energy drink's flavor.
However, human desires are endless, and I end up wishing for a stronger scent or more intense sweetness that spreads in my mouth (;´∀`)
I think this is the main difference between the American and Japanese versions. The Mogu-Mogu texture seems a bit weaker here. Even so, I’m impressed with how well they’ve recreated it with Zero x Zero.
If you're concerned about sugar and calories, I think Absolutely Zero is the clear choice.

個人的な感想ですが、カロリーゼロ、つまり人工甘味料のため、舌残りがしつこいです。そのため、サラッと飲みたい人にはおすすめできないのではないか・・・と思います。
