In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Monster Energy Aussie Style Lemonade (Japan)
When opened, a lemon scent with a slight sweetness, reminiscent of lemon candy, fills the air, combining tanginess and sweetness. Now, let's give it a try.
As I take a sip, the tangy lemon flavor stands out with a strong lemon candy taste. It’s not the sweet type of lemonade with sugar or honey, but rather a sour type where the lemon’s tanginess shines through.
Considering it’s part of the juice series with fruit juice included, you might expect more lemon flavor, fruitiness, or a crisp refreshing taste, but it’s a bit different. It’s easier to imagine a punchy, intense lemon candy flavor.
Personally, I found that adding ice made it the perfect lemon flavor and enhanced the overall taste.
When drinking with plenty of ice, the refreshing lemon flavor increases, leaving a balanced tanginess, turning it into a crisp, summer-ready lemonade. If you love rich lemon, it’s best served chilled, while if you prefer a refreshing, zesty lemonade, I recommend adding plenty of ice.
Comparing Japanese and American Aussie Style Lemonades
Now, let’s compare the Japanese and American Aussie Style Lemonades. On the left is the Japanese version, and on the right is the American version. The color is the same, and it’s hard to tell them apart.
The scents are slightly different. The Japanese version has a sweet and sour lemon candy aroma, while the American version shares the same base, but with a more subdued, distinctive lemon scent that doesn’t overpower the other notes.
When tasted side by side, the American version has a milder acidity, and the sweetness isn’t as pronounced. The flavor and aroma are more balanced. Meanwhile, the Japanese version has a strong, tangy lemon taste that lasts, delivering a more intense flavor throughout. The Japanese version seems to emphasize the lemon flavor in all aspects, making it more impactful.
When I first tried the American version upon its release, I did notice it had a more subdued taste compared to other fruit juice lemonade series. Personally, I rated it highly as a good lemon flavor to enjoy leisurely.
Perhaps based on the original American flavor, the Japanese version has been adjusted to appeal to those who prefer a stronger lemon taste.
When comparing the two versions, it's important to drink the Japanese one first, then the American version, so you can clearly notice the flavor differences.
Energy Ingredients of Monster Energy Aussie Style Lemonade (Japan)
Contains 142mg of caffeine, 188mg of arginine, 291mg of ginseng, and 10mg of carnitine. It also contains 1% lemon juice. At this level, it’s questionable how much the fruit juice contributes.
The American version contains 2% lemon juice, but similarly, the lemon flavor is not very noticeable.
Design of Monster Energy Aussie Style Lemonade (Japan)
As indicated by the product name and design, the Aussie Style Lemonade is inspired by Australia’s citrus fruits and the Great Barrier Reef.
Comparing the large 473ml American version with the smaller 355ml Japanese version, the Japanese can size does cause some parts of the design to be less visible. However, you can still clearly feel the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef’s waters.
Monster Energy is a top brand known for its unique energy drinks, offering products inspired by iconic scenes and cultures from around the world, setting it apart from other brands.
Many of Monster’s products are playful creations that incorporate inspiration from experiences in various countries and regions, which is one of the reasons why it resonates with fans globally.
Why not enjoy the Aussie Style Lemonade while imagining the summer of the Great Barrier Reef?
