In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of MONSTER ENERGY CUBA LIMA
As soon as you open it, you’ll notice the scent of lime and something akin to Pepsi cola. The aroma expands more when poured into a glass. I felt it leaned more toward the Pepsi cola scent rather than Coca-Cola. The flavor and aroma at room temperature are incredibly strong.
When chilled, you can enjoy a refreshing hint of lime and a cola mix flavor that doesn’t linger too long in the mouth ( ´∀`)b
On the other hand, this Cuba Lima really loses its appeal when consumed at room temperature… in fact, it drops considerably. If you get the chance to try it, it’s highly recommended to drink it well chilled.
Monster Energy's Take on the Traditional Cuban Cocktail
As soon as you see the name Cuba Lima, you can easily imagine it’s inspired by the traditional Cuban cocktail, Cuba Libre. (News article: On April 24, 2018, Cuba Libre was finally released as an original flavor in Japan!)
Cuba Libre was created by mixing cola, brought by Americans after the Cuban War of Independence, with the popular Bacardi rum in Cuba. U.S. soldiers started ordering it one after another, shouting "Cuba Libre!" as they toasted, and that’s how the name came to be.
Influenced by the Cuba Libre cocktail, Cuba Lima was developed as an energy drink that blends energy ingredients for a delicious experience. Since it’s inspired by a cocktail, it can be enjoyed on its own as an energy drink or paired with alcohol for a tasty flavor.
CUBA LIMA Can Design
CUBA-LIMA is derived from the Spanish word for lime.
The lime depicted on the can stands out beautifully. Cuba Lima does not contain lime juice, and the lime flavor itself is not very strong, so it’s more about enjoying a hint of it.
The dark can with the lime green pull tab is stunning... It perfectly represents the Cuba Lima vibe.
