Released in 2019, the Green Tea from the Dragon Tea series, which is independent from the Rehab series of Tea Energy drinks.

Unlike the green tea that Japanese people might imagine, the green tea sold in North America is a completely different product. The Green Dragon I’ll be reviewing today is also a sweet green tea made for the North American market.

When I saw the green dragon on the can, I was expecting a green tea color inside, but when poured into a glass, it turned out to be a dull brown typical of North American-style tea... It’s a bit surprising for Japanese people.

Let’s try it right away.

When I took a sip, the scent of the tea leaves spread first before the taste. There’s no bitterness or astringency, but the light sweetness of North American-style green tea is complemented by a subtle, authentic tea fragrance, which gives a slightly genuine feeling. This was quite a surprise.

Though it’s a sweet green tea made for the North American market, the sweetness isn’t unnatural, and it’s surprisingly light and doesn’t linger in the mouth. Additionally, the strong scent of the tea leaves lightens the sweetness, making it easy to drink. I ended up finishing it quickly while reviewing.

When chilled, the refreshing sweetness becomes even more pleasant and invigorating, making it perfect for summer. Adding ice would dilute the flavor, so just chilling it in the fridge is enough. As a North American-style green tea, I think it’s very well-crafted.

It contains 155mg of caffeine, taurine, ginseng, carnitine, and other standard energy ingredients. It might have been more interesting if it had unique ingredients typical of the Dragon Tea series.

That being said, it seems to contain a good amount of tea leaf extract, and the fragrance was pleasant. As a North American-style tea, I think it could appeal to Japanese people as well.

The can size is the standard 473ml, but the actual content is 458ml.

Due to the tea leaf extract and sediment, the contents are slightly less than the typical 16oz size can, and you need to shake it to mix it well.

In the Monster Rehab series, the sparkling “divine powder” was a notable feature, but Dragon Tea features a brown powder.

It has a black top with a green tab. Monster Energy doesn’t miss any details like this; they’ve put effort into making sure it looks well-put-together. If it had a white top, it wouldn’t have the same finished look.
