MONSTER ENERGY LEWIS HAMILTON
2017 spring saw the release of "MONSTER ENERGY LEWIS HAMILTON," commonly known as LH34, as a collaboration with Lewis Hamilton. It was mainly launched in Europe.
Due to its unprecedented design, texture, and overall appearance, early leaks before its release led many to believe it was a fake product rather than an official one. However, once it was officially launched, people were surprised by its high-quality design, which had never been seen before.
In 2022, a completely revamped sugar-free version, "MONSTER ENERGY LEWIS HAMILTON ZERO SUGAR," was introduced, leading to the discontinuation of the original full-sugar MONSTER ENERGY LEWIS HAMILTON.
Then, in 2024, Monster Energy's partnership with Lewis Hamilton came to an end, marking the discontinuation of all "LEWIS HAMILTON" products from Monster Energy.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of MONSTER ENERGY LEWIS HAMILTON
Upon opening the can, you're greeted with a chemical grape aroma with a hint of sourness—something that feels strangely familiar.
Pouring it into a glass reveals a classic yellow energy drink color, which immediately gives me a bad feeling... (゚A゚;)ゴクリ
Taking a sip... it has a tart white grape-like flavor with a noticeable artificial chemical taste and a lingering artificial sweetener aftertaste. The sweetness is not overpowering, with a stronger sourness that gives it a somewhat classic energy drink vibe, but the dominant note is definitely white grape.
That said, it doesn't fully lean into a fruity flavor. The chemical scent is present even before drinking, and it continues to subtly linger in the nose after each sip, making it hard to pinpoint exactly what this flavor is supposed to be (^_^;)
It’s not outright bad—you can drink it just fine—but it’s hard to find a reason to actually crave it...
Given the aroma, color, and the fact that it's a Monster Energy drink, some might simply perceive it as a sour-leaning classic formula. But honestly, considering this is a special collaboration, I can't help but feel the flavor is a missed opportunity. This taste is nothing unique, and personally, with so many different Monster varieties available worldwide, I don’t see myself reaching for this one again anytime soon (´・ω・`)
Energy Ingredients of MONSTER ENERGY LEWIS HAMILTON
With 150mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine, plus carnitine and inositol, the formula is quite simple.
Surprisingly, the calorie count is just 96kcal, with 26g of carbohydrates—about half the amount found in a typical 500ml energy drink. Looking at the ingredient list, it’s clear that a lot of artificial sweeteners were used. That artificial sweetener taste I vaguely noticed? Yep, this explains it (ヽ´ω`)
If you’re sensitive to zero-sugar flavors, this might be a bit off-putting. It’s reminiscent of the Monster M-100 series.
MONSTER ENERGY LEWIS HAMILTON's Design: The Most Luxurious Ever
I’d say this is one of the coolest, most luxurious designs ever. Following the Black Top, the black background with "LEWIS HAMILTON" in gold lettering and gold accents gives it an incredibly premium look.
The sample images showed the black portions with a brushed metal finish, but the actual can is just plain black. If it had that brushed metal texture, it would have been absolutely stunning (*´ェ`*)
The overall design features a rough, textured bronze-red surface that gives it a solid, heavy feel, while the black cutouts create a striking contrast with different materials. It's an incredible design. I also like that the Monster logo is relatively small (u_u*)
I could seriously just hold this can and admire it for hours. In London, they were casually stacked on shelves without much care, unlike the neatly arranged displays in Japan, which was a bit of a shame. But maybe it’s better that way—it makes it feel like a "precious, one-of-a-kind" can rather than just another mass-produced drink. Whether in bright daylight or under dim lighting at night, this can reveals different facets of its beauty. Honestly, I might be overpraising it, but I absolutely love how it looks!
But the flavor... (ヽ´ω`)
It’s such a shame. With a can this stunning, it feels difficult to be too harsh, but as I mentioned before, I wouldn’t repurchase this for the taste. There are just so many better-tasting energy drinks out there.
Even if this were to be released as a limited edition in Japan, I feel like most people would just think, "Oh, it tastes just like the original." Most people don’t carefully compare flavors (and honestly, memories of past flavors can be pretty vague). Also, if they do release it in Japan, I really hope they go with a Black Top version (u_u*)
If only the liquid inside had the same refined, luxurious feel as the can design—like the deep, sophisticated colors of Red Bull F1 or Bull. That would have made the whole experience so much more enjoyable.
