In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea (Japan)

When you open the can, you are greeted with the tangy scent of lemon and the refreshing aroma of tea leaves. The color is a cloudy brown typical of the Rehab series. Let's take a sip right away.
Flavor of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
As you sip, you'll enjoy the fruity flavor of lemonade with a gentle sweetness, the tangy lemon, and the fresh, light tea leaf aroma.

The citrusy lemon scent is a bit stronger, but the flavor itself is a soft, sweet and tangy lemonade. The accent of tartness and the tea leaf flavor are refreshing, and since it's non-carbonated, it soothes your body, especially when you're feeling dry.

The gentle and soothing taste common to the Rehab series is now available in Japan... It’s amazing!

I used to mention in interviews with Weekly Playboy that I’d love to see Rehab in Japan, so I’m genuinely happy to see it released here.
Flavor of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
Rehab Lemonade Tea is a highly rated energy drink that allows you to enjoy both the gentle deliciousness of lemonade and the refreshing taste of tea. It’s a drink I haven’t had in a while that I can confidently recommend.

Comparison of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea Japan vs USA

I had previously bought the Rehab Tea Lemonade from the U.S. so I could compare it with the Japanese version. On the left is Japan's "Lemonade Tea," and on the right is the USA's "Tea Lemonade." There is little to no difference in terms of color or cloudiness between the two versions.
Flavor of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
Both versions have the same base lemonade tea flavor, offering a gentle lemonade tea experience, but the U.S. version has very little acidity and a milder sweetness that doesn't linger in your mouth. The tea flavor is a bit more subdued, giving it a calmer, more relaxed taste.

When you compare them, you can tell that the Japanese version emphasizes the fruity lemon flavor. The Japanese Rehab Lemonade Tea has a distinctly fruitier taste compared to the U.S. version.

In Japan, there’s a tendency for energy drinks to have stronger flavors and scents, and I feel that this Rehab version was designed with that in mind. You may enjoy the richer taste, including the lemon fruitiness, more in the Japanese version.

Personally, I love the U.S. "Tea Lemonade" and the original Rehab series for their ability to refresh and relax you, especially in the morning when you’re still tired and need something that soothes your body. The crisp, refreshing taste of the original is also great. If you ever visit the U.S., I recommend trying them side by side.

Energy Ingredients of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea (Japan)

Energy Ingredients of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
Contains 131mg of caffeine, 431mg of arginine, 293mg of ginseng, and 4.8mg of carnitine.

The fruit juice content is 3%, and it includes lemon, coconut water, mangosteen, goji berries (wolfberry), and acai, which is the same as the original U.S. version.

What I personally like about the Rehab series is that it’s low in sugar (6.9g) and low in calories (27.6kcal), making it guilt-free to drink.

Design of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea (Japan)

Design of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
The design features a simple two-tone color scheme of yellow and black. Since this is Lemonade Tea, yellow is the main color. In North America, the main color changes with each flavor.

Amount of Rehab Lemonade Tea, 345ml

Amount of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
While the standard Monster Energy series is 355ml, this Rehab Lemonade Tea comes in a slightly smaller 345ml can.

This slight difference in size is meant to accommodate the potential settling of tea leaves, so it’s intended for shaking and mixing.

Amount of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
In the U.S., the standard can is 473ml, but Rehab cans are 458ml. The U.S. version is notably labeled with "SHAKE GENTLY" on the can.

The Japanese version also mentions shaking well to disperse the sediment in various explanatory texts.
Amount of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
When drinking Rehab Lemonade Tea, gently rotate the can up and down before drinking for a better taste.

Origin of the Rehab Series Name

The name "Rehab" comes from the experience at the "Rehab Pool Party" held at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, which became the inspiration for creating a refreshing drink that would help rejuvenate after the party, and this was developed into the series.

This is a video of the Rehab Pool Party. It’s incredible! It was the largest pool party in the world held every summer weekend.

Origin of Rehab
With the release of Rehab Lemonade Tea in Japan, Monster Energy Japan’s press release highlighted the Rehab Pool Party again, bringing the origin of Rehab into the spotlight.

However, in 2018, the Hard Rock Hotel was acquired, and the Rehab Pool Party was discontinued.
Origin of Rehab
When the Rehab series was updated with a new design, the energy poem about the Rehab Pool Party was removed from the previous design, and it became harder to learn about its origin.

Design of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
Now, the can features terms like "Recover," "Rehydrate," and "Refresh," and the series is marketed as a tea-based energy drink for hydration and refreshment.

Comparison with the Old Rehab Design

When the Rehab series first debuted in North America, the design had a more Monster-like, edgy vibe with a dark, mysterious appearance.
Amount of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
Some of you may have seen this design on Monster Energy cans abroad.

Now, the yellow, black, and white colors have clear contrasts, making it look more like a sports drink, with a much simpler design.
Amount of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
The intense, edgy look from the past seems to have faded. Personally, I prefer the older design.

Pull tab of Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
The tab is yellow, the same as the U.S. version.

The non-carbonated Rehab series, with its soothing and refreshing qualities, is perfect for refreshing your tired body, unlike the typical heavy energy drinks with a punch. I’ve felt that Japan was missing the Rehab series, so I’m thrilled that the quality of the flavor was high, making this a great new flavor. Definitely worth buying in bulk.

Monster Energy Rehab Lemonade Tea
Around the world, there are many types of energy drinks that differ from Japan's usual norms, like Rehab Lemonade Tea. If you're traveling abroad, I highly recommend trying different energy drinks.
