When poured into a glass, an intense foam rapidly forms, and the unique cola aroma bursts into the air. True to its claim of being “extra carbonated,” the bubbling is quite intense.

My first impression upon taking a sip was, “It’s genuinely better now!” The base cola flavor itself seems unchanged from the previous bottle can, but the enhanced carbonation gives it a noticeably lighter mouthfeel, allowing for a crisp and refreshing cola taste.

The strong carbonation seems to have eliminated the sharp acidity and lingering sweetness that I found overwhelming in the old bottle can. Rather than just feeling less heavy, the flavor has transformed into something distinctly more refreshing, making it a much more drinkable cola than I had expected.

Drinking it over ice further enhances the refreshment of the new Super Cola.

The chilled, crisp flavor and the stimulating carbonation down the throat make it just as enjoyable as Coca-Cola Original.

Personally, I’m a firm believer that Coca-Cola Original is the ultimate cola, yet I was genuinely surprised at how much the new Super Cola has improved. It has become so much better that I can actually see it as a viable cola option. First, enjoy its flavor at refrigerator temperature, then add plenty of ice to take the refreshment to the next level. You might just get hooked.

Oh, and if you compare the new Super Cola with the old bottle can, the difference is visually apparent. A side-by-side tasting would be interesting.

Comparing the New and Old Super Cola

The color remains the same, and the aroma is identical. However, with the increased carbonation, the bubbles in the new Super Cola keep popping, making the cola scent feel more pronounced.

The difference in foam formation when poured into a glass is remarkable.

Even after letting it sit for a while, the foam in the new Super Cola remains. I initially thought the stronger carbonation would dissipate quickly, but even just visually, the difference is striking.

The way the flavor is perceived is also significantly different. While the base cola flavor is the same, the old bottle can tends to leave more of the cola taste lingering in the mouth. In contrast, the new Super Cola doesn’t leave much behind. Even though the ingredients are the same, it somehow drinks much cleaner, with a sharper finish. This difference is noticeable even when chilled and becomes even more apparent when the drink starts approaching room temperature.

A poll on Twitter showed that many people also felt the Super Cola had improved after the renewal.

Energy Ingredients of Monster Energy Super Cola

Contains 142mg of caffeine, 188mg of arginine, ginseng, carnitine, guarana, and more. It follows the standard Monster Energy formula.

With the shift from a 500ml bottle to a 355ml can, the total ingredient content has decreased, but the caffeine level is still sufficient.

Design of Monster Energy Super Cola

The new Super Cola now features a camouflage pattern.

Even the text color on the back, including the energy poem and ingredient list, has been stylishly updated. I like both the front and back designs.

“They say it’s a revolutionary flavor… and they might be right.” This renewal was definitely a great decision.

Which do you prefer compared to the old bottle can?

The camouflage pattern is cool, but when placed side by side, I still find the classic bottle can design quite appealing.

By the way, the new Super Cola’s camouflage design follows the style of the Assault flavor, which is sold in the U.S. and other countries.

However, since the flavors are entirely different, Super Cola and Assault are completely separate products. It’s amusing how this globally unified camouflage design is used for a Japan-exclusive flavor with a unique name.
