The 2020 release of Monster Energy’s Ultra Series, MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA FIESTA. With the launch of Fiesta, the entire Ultra Series was revamped, and now, it remains sugar-free but is no longer zero-calorie.

After its release in the U.S., the product design and name changed slightly, and it was renamed “MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA FIESTA MANGO” in some parts of Europe, making the flavor clearer.

The moment you open the can, a burst of refreshing tropical fruit mix scent comes out, making you involuntarily exclaim with joy (*´艸｀*). To have this flavor in a Zero!? Along with excitement, there's also a bit of worry if they can pull it off without sugar or juice.

The cloudy tropical yellow that came out of the beautiful turquoise blue can looks great with this contrast. The scent and color are perfect, but will the taste live up to the expectations?

As soon as it touches my mouth, I get a sweet and tangy tropical fruit mix flavor, with a distinct mango vibe, like a zero-sugar version of Mango Loco with juice, and it's a refreshing taste.

The flavor and scent are surprisingly delicious, without any zero-sugar taste, and it’s a complete surprise with a level of excellence that shatters all previous notions of sugar-free drinks. From my experience drinking various flavors, I used to think that a tropical flavor couldn't possibly work without sugar, but it was a pleasant surprise.

However, since it contains no fruit juice, it naturally lacks the rich, juicy texture and the fleshiness of Mango Loco with juice.

Still, the tropical fragrance and the sweet-tangy mango flavor are remarkable, and no matter how many times I drink it, I can't believe it's sugar-free and I don’t taste any artificial sweeteners.

If I didn't know it was from the Ultra series, I wouldn't believe this could be zero-sugar, with just 10kcal per can. It's that revolutionary in its deliciousness.

Until now, the Ultra series has been calorie-free and sugar-free, but with the label "ZERO SUGAR" on the top of the can, both the 2020 new Ultra Fiesta and Ultra Rosa were the only ones to switch from zero-calorie to just sugar-free, while all other Ultra series products remained sugar-free.

The fact that it's this delicious without sugar is personally very much appreciated. Depending on the timing, it's the perfect energy drink for people who don’t want to consume unnecessary carbs from anything other than meals.

Both the taste and the product are quite similar between MONGO LOCO and ULTRA FIESTA.

When compared to the skull of MONGO LOCO, the skulls on ULTRA FIESTA seem to be having more fun. Personally, I might prefer the skulls on ULTRA FIESTA.

US Version Also Changed Design and Product Name

The US version of ULTRA FIESTA had a product name and design that made it hard to imagine the flavor until you tasted it, but it was later slightly updated.

Just like the version previously released in parts of Europe, it’s now called "ULTRA FIESTA MANGO," with added mango orange colors alongside the turquoise blue, making it much clearer that the flavor is mango. I think this was a good update. While I liked the old version with just turquoise blue, which had a jewel-like beauty, it seems that making it clear it's mango-flavored will likely improve sales.

The Ultra series has always been free from the unpleasant taste of artificial sweeteners, and ULTRA FIESTA seems to have raised the level of flavor even higher. It’s safe to say this is a representative example of zero-sugar energy drinks, and even energy drink developers should try it.
