MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA PARADISE
Monster Energy Ultra Paradise, a new release from 2019. I picked this one up in New York during Golden Week.
With the addition of green to the Ultra Series, the lineup has become even more colorful (*´艸`*).
This unique flavor combines a fruity kiwi-apple base with a melon-like twist, making it a drink that may divide opinions.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA PARADISE
The liquid is a light, slightly cloudy lime green. I was expecting a more vibrant, glowing lime green like Ultra Red or Ultra Blue, so it feels a bit too ordinary.
The aroma is a mix of rich, sweet-and-tart green apple with a hint of fresh, green melon. However, the combination is quite complex, making it hard to immediately decide if it smells appetizing (;´∀`).
Upon taking a sip, a bold and sweet kiwi-apple blend spreads across the palate, offering a more intense sweetness than expected. As expected from the Ultra series, the artificial sweetener taste is barely noticeable whether at room temperature or chilled. When warm, the apple flavor stands out more, whereas chilling it enhances the kiwi notes.
Following the smooth kiwi-apple taste, a green melon-like aroma emerges. Whether you perceive this as an unnecessary green note or a refreshing accent will likely depend on personal preference.
This melon-like note is typically found in watermelon or cucumber-flavored beverages, but in Ultra Paradise, it may not have been necessary. The rich kiwi sweetness and crisp apple alone create an exceptional flavor, making the melon nuance feel somewhat extra.
Canadian MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA PARADISE
In Canada, the 710ml mega-sized MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA PARADISE has been available for a long time. This could indicate its particularly strong popularity in the Canadian market.
Chinese MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA PARADISE
MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA PARADISE I picked up in Shenzhen, China, comes in a slightly smaller 330ml can. It features a juicy kiwi aroma and a light, sweet-and-tangy flavor.
Malaysian MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA PARADISE
Monster Energy Ultra Paradise from Malaysia, released in 2024. The kiwi aroma is slightly more subtle compared to versions from other countries, giving it a light and easy-to-drink taste. The caffeine content is 67.4mg, which is about 60% of a typical energy drink. However, it still contains a solid 1,420mg of taurine.
Energy Ingredients of MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA PARADISE
This drink contains 140mg of caffeine, along with taurine, carnitine, and inositol in a simple yet effective formulation.
Considering the depth of the kiwi-apple flavor, it's hard to believe this is a zero-calorie, zero-sugar drink. Unlike other Ultra flavors, this one lacks the distinct "Ultra" taste, making it a refreshingly straightforward addition to the series.
Design of MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA PARADISE
The can features a tropical beach scene. At first, I thought it represented a secluded Southeast Asian resort, but then I noticed a toucan on the right side, suggesting a Central or South American beach paradise instead.
Rather than depicting a specific location, the design seems to be more about capturing a general tropical vibe with elements like birds, trees, and mountains (^_^;).
Ultra Paradise has been available with both a green top and a silver top since its release. The one I purchased in New York was the silver-top version. It's interesting to see these small regional variations.
Since the Ultra series launched, only Citron has been discontinued, while the rest have maintained steady popularity. Given its slightly unique taste, I'm curious to see how long Ultra Paradise will remain on the market.
And just as I was wondering, it’s also being released in Japan! I’ve written a detailed review comparing the Japanese and international versions—check it out!
