Mother KICKED APPLE, a product from the long-established energy drink brand in Oceania, which came under Monster Energy, was released after the brand's acquisition. The details behind its discontinuation in 2020 will be discussed later, so I believe this review offers an interesting insight into the energy drink scene in Oceania.

When taking a sip, the sweet and tangy rich green apple flavor fills your mouth. The taste is deep, but it doesn't linger heavily, maintaining a refreshing sensation.

While there's no real fruitiness, the savory flavor of apple shines through in the sweet and tangy taste, achieving a high-quality flavor without feeling cheap. Although I wasn't expecting much since it was released under Monster Energy, I was impressed by how the excellent qualities of the original Mother series from Coca-Cola's time were seamlessly reproduced in this high-quality version.

The beauty of the Mother series lies in the perfect balance between ease of drinking and rich flavor. KICKED APPLE is a fitting apple flavor for the Mother series.

Energy Ingredients of Mother KICKED APPLE

Contains 150mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine, and 10mg of inositol.

The energy ingredients are fairly standard, but what's surprising is the high carb content—78g in total. That's quite a lot. The sweetness of the green apple might be related to the high sugar content, but be cautious about consuming too much due to the excess sugar.

The flowing green design resembles a grassy field. Since becoming part of Monster Energy, the brand's design has dramatically declined Σ(´∀｀；), unlike the cool designs during the Coca-Cola era.

Mother KICKED APPLE was discontinued in 2020. When I went to Australia at the start of 2020, it was still on sale, but after that, it was only available through store inventories. This wasn't because the flavor was unpopular, but likely due to other reasons.

There was a lengthy legal battle between Mother and V Energy Drink from 2012 to 2020. Ultimately, Mother lost the case, and the dispute was over this green color.

In 2012, Coca-Cola fought against V Energy’s trademark for the green color, and during that time, Mother released a flavor, Mother GREEN STORM, that closely resembled V's original. The trademark dispute was dismissed in 2018, but it continued until 2020.

After being acquired by Monster Energy, Mother GREEN STORM was discontinued, and Mother KICKED APPLE, using the same color, was launched. It's impressive that they went ahead with this, but given that Mother lost the case, it's likely that the discontinuation of Mother KICKED APPLE was a direct result of this.

Interestingly, since 2019, Mother’s official photos have no longer featured Mother KICKED APPLE. Even in 2020, I saw it in stores, so I believe it was only available through store inventory after 2019.

Such a shame. Whether KICKED APPLE was popular or not isn't clear, but it seems almost certain that it disappeared because of the loss to V. The reason for the disappearance of this important flavor in the Mother series is tied to changes in Australia's long energy drink scene.
