Mother LAVA GUAVA
Released in August 2022, Mother LAVA GUAVA is a new flavor from Australia's long-established energy drink brand, Mother Energy Drink.
Guava is a fairly common flavor in energy drinks, but if we look back at the history of the Mother series, this is actually the first time they’ve introduced this flavor.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Mother LAVA GUAVA
When opened, a sweet tropical fruit scent fills the air. It's not quite the scent of guava, but rather a strongly sweetened, processed fragrance. The color is a slightly cloudy bright pink, which I think does a good job of evoking the feel of guava flesh. Let’s take a sip.
Upon taking a sip, the flavor is a sweet tropical guava-like taste without any fruit pulp. This sweetness and scent lean more toward an artificial flavor rather than a natural fruitiness, with a mix of various tropical flavors, not limited to guava.
Given the color, you might already get the idea, but there’s also a hint of a flavor similar to Pipeline Punch.
Since its release, the taste of Mother LAVA GUAVA has been pretty well-received. The key difference from Pipeline Punch lies in the rich fruit aroma and the lingering aftertaste. LAVA GUAVA is juice-free, so the fruitiness isn’t as strong. However, this trade-off gives it a light, easy-to-drink quality, which is the standout feature of LAVA GUAVA.
Energy Ingredients of Mother LAVA GUAVA
It contains 150mg of caffeine and 2000mg of taurine. This is a standard energy ingredient content.
Many products in the Mother series are high in carbohydrates, and LAVA GUAVA is no exception, containing 78g of carbs per can, so be mindful not to overconsume. Globally, it ranks among the highest in carb content, so for more details, check out the ranking of energy drinks high in carbs.
Design of Mother LAVA GUAVA
The design evokes the swirling motion common to the Mother series, with a color similar to grape. Interestingly, when it comes to guava in energy drinks, the cans often have a purple color.
LAVA GUAVA features a yellow outline around the logo. Most of the other flavors have a white outline, so when I first saw LAVA GUAVA on the shelf, it had a unique, standout feel. I personally quite like this color combination.
Changing the outline color slightly alters the impression, and it might also help differentiate it from other similar purple-colored long-selling flavors like Frosty Berry.
