Released in 2021, the Berry Blitz flavor from Mountain Dew's new energy drink brand, RISE ENERGY.

This series is designed to meet the modern energy drink standard, with higher caffeine content than typical energy drinks of the same size, and is nearly sugar-free with low carbs and calories.

When opened, a mildly berry-like, artificial blueberry gum aroma bursts out. The color really showcases the energy drink vibe, beyond just real fruit... Let's take a sip.

The taste is a refreshing, tart blueberry flavor. It’s a gum-type flavor, just as the aroma suggests, and lacks the richness and umami of real blueberries, with the taste being quite faint.

Since other MTN DEW RISE ENERGY flavors were richer, I had high expectations for this one as well...

However, there are definitely people who find this simple, cheap flavor irresistible, so while it’s not unpleasant, the flavor is perfectly ordinary. Somehow, though, the reviews are very divided on it.

Flavors that aren’t bad but receive mixed reviews often have no distinct characteristics, leaving you unsure of who they’re appealing to. MTN DEW RISE ENERGY BERRY BLITZ is a perfect example of this.

It might be the reason, but on December 4, 2021, only the BERRY BLITZ flavor was announced to be discontinued. (In 2023, other flavors were also phased out.)

Contains 180mg of caffeine. It also includes zinc, though not in amounts that would be noticeable to the body.

5% fruit juice, but unlike other flavors, it contains white grape juice instead of orange juice.

The matte silver can uses a purple and green color combination, evoking the atmosphere of blueberry fruit.

The combination of the lion logo and RISE logo is just perfect, creating a balanced and beautiful overall logo design.

The ingredient list on the back has a stacked design, neatly organized. There’s no unnecessary poetry, and the description is kept as simple as possible, which I personally really like.

BERRY BLITZ was the first flavor to be discontinued, but it wasn’t the only one. Two years later, half of the previous flavors were also discontinued, and it seems that the regular products are gradually being phased out. There are just too many energy drink brands under PepsiCo’s MTN DEW line, and since the products are so similar, it's hard to figure out just how many fans each brand actually has.
