Released in 2021, this is the Strawberry Melon flavor from the new energy drink brand, RISE ENERGY by Mountain Dew.

Currently, it is sold under the name "MTN DEW ENERGY" instead of "RISE ENERGY," and the review I’m sharing today is for the initial version of MTN DEW RISE ENERGY that was first launched.

Upon opening the can, a fresh aroma of strawberry candy and shaved ice syrup strawberry flavor fills the air. It has quite an artificial scent. Let’s give it a try.

When I take a sip, I taste a subtle strawberry and melon flavor that’s not too sweet, with a light, refreshing mouthfeel. The taste is very smooth and clean, with a light texture on the tongue.

The sweet scent of strawberry candy barely gives the drink a strawberry flavor, but the taste itself lacks depth or sweetness. Instead, the melon flavor brings a refreshing, almost watery watermelon-like sensation, which many will notice as the prominent taste.

The "melon" in the product name likely refers to the lightly sweet, melon-like flavor. There’s no melon scent, so even those who are not fond of melon odors will likely enjoy the watermelon-like vibe.

Contains 180mg of caffeine, which is slightly more than the typical 473ml size. However, there are no other major energy ingredients, so the overall composition is quite simple.

It also contains 5% fruit juice, which is white grape juice. The flavor is sufficiently recreated even without fruit juice, so it could have been labeled as a zero-calorie version without the fruit juice.

With the strawberry-melon flavor, the design features a combination of pink and green.

The sharp design of the RISE logo and lion matches well, creating a well-balanced logo overall.

Seeing the high-quality design around the logo once again, it’s unfortunate that the "RISE" name couldn’t be used after the product's early release due to trademark litigation. By 2022, the situation was favorable for PepsiCo, and I had hoped that RISE ENERGY would return, but it seems that products with this RISE logo will no longer be released. The backside of the can features simple and easy-to-read ingredient descriptions arranged to match the shape of the RISE logo. Personally, I really like this design.

The 2011 release of the old RISE ENERGY series that I reviewed was launched during the period of COVID restrictions, and it has since been renewed, so I thought it was no longer available.

However, fortunately, during my hunt in Los Angeles at the end of 2022, I was able to find and collect them all (during such trips, I often visit up to 100 stores across different regions). This indicates that RISE ENERGY didn't sell as well as expected. In fact, even the newly released MTN DEW ENERGY was hard to find, suggesting that it didn’t have a successful rollout.
