MUSASHI ENERGY BLUE RASPBERRY

Posted on May 4, 2023 | Last updated March 26, 2025

Flavor of MUSASHI ENERGY BLUE RASPBERRY
The long-established supplement manufacturer "MUSASHI," operating in Australia and New Zealand, launched its energy drink series "MUSASHI ENERGY" in July 2021 with three flavors released simultaneously. This time, I will review one of them, the Blue Raspberry flavor.

While it’s debatable whether it can truly be called blue raspberry, the completion level of this zero-sugar energy drink is quite high. Additionally, the energy ingredients are packed with authentic components typical of a supplement manufacturer, making it a worthwhile product. Now, let’s dive into the review.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of MUSASHI ENERGY BLUE RASPBERRY

Upon opening the can, a fresh green apple-like aroma with a slight sourness fills the air. Hmm? What flavor is this? It's supposed to be blue raspberry, but I didn’t really notice any berry-like scent.

When I take a sip, the refreshing sourness and fragrance of a green apple-like flavor emerge, followed by a grape-like astringency lingering in the aftertaste.

If I were to call it blue raspberry, I’d say, "Maybe?" because the raspberry flavor is barely noticeable. However, there’s no unpleasant aftertaste from artificial sweeteners, and the zero-sugar formula is impressively well-executed.

If you think of it as a sour apple flavor, it's quite delicious. On the other hand, if you judge it based on the blue raspberry flavor, the accuracy of the flavor is a bit off.

Energy Ingredients of MUSASHI ENERGY BLUE RASPBERRY

Energy Ingredients of MUSASHI ENERGY BLUE RASPBERRY
It contains 160mg of caffeine, 1600mg of beta-alanine, 1000mg of BCAA, 300mg of acetyl-L-tyrosine, and 3000mg of citrulline.

It contains familiar amino acids for those who are serious about supplementation. Beta-alanine for endurance, citrulline for pump, and acetyl-L-tyrosine for memory enhancement and stress management. This energy drink stands apart from the usual energy drink brands or one-off products, clearly reflecting its roots as a fitness-oriented supplement manufacturer.

Design of MUSASHI ENERGY BLUE RASPBERRY

"MUSASHI" is a supplement manufacturer founded in Australia in 1987, and the brand name is inspired by Miyamoto Musashi.

The MUSASHI ENERGY series features a samurai depicted on the design, but this is unique to the MUSASHI ENERGY line, as the samurai is not seen on the many other MUSASHI supplements.

There are a few energy drinks from Western brands that use the samurai image, and perhaps it’s chosen for its powerful imagery.

The back of the can contains information about the brand’s concept. Since this blue raspberry flavor is from before the design renewal, the information on the current product differs slightly from this one.

By the way, I’ve always wondered about the connection with the famous, expensive MUSASHI supplement brand in Japan. It’s costly, but I’ve always thought it seems effective, and I actually bought it a long time ago.

After looking into it, I found out that this Australian MUSASHI seems to be the original. Upon closer inspection, the logo text design matches as well. However, it seems they intentionally avoid making a clear connection with the Australian brand. Why is that?
