Monster Energy Ultra Sunrise launched in America

Posted on October 1, 2014 | Last updated February 21, 2025

Monster Energy Ultra Sunrise released in the USA
The Monster Energy Ultra Sunrise, which had no leaked images or information since August, has finally surfaced with product photos before its official release. Although the official release hasn’t happened yet, I have a feeling that a large number of cases will circulate among enthusiasts before it actually hits the market.

Flavor of Monster Energy Ultra Sunrise

According to pre-release information from Monster Energy, the flavor is described as "a citrus orange flavor similar to France’s Orangina." As part of the Ultra series, it is of course calorie and sugar-free. Considering the previous Ultra series flavors, expectations are high for this Sunrise to have a taste that doesn’t feel like a typical zero-calorie drink.

Incidentally, according to overseas leak information, it is said to resemble (almost identical to) the flavor of Monster Energy THE DOCTOR. If that’s true, it’s sure to be delicious, and I think it will become quite popular in the U.S.

It’s also a flavor I believe will suit Japanese tastes, and since it has that signature energy drink punch, it has a high potential for success if it’s released in Japan (if it’s released, that is).

Becoming a Product to Overtake Red Bull

This summer, Red Bull’s Summer Edition was released in North America, featuring a refreshing fruit mix flavor, which sold out in many stores. Even when I visited the U.S., many stores had completely sold out, despite it still being summer.

Subsequently, Monster’s Ultra Black was released in stores, which generated even more buzz. Now, the upcoming release of Ultra Sunrise is expected, and it’s believed that with these consecutive releases, Monster could overtake Red Bull (this was predicted by U.S. experts before the release of Ultra Black, and at that time, Monster had a higher growth rate in sales than Red Bull).

Like Ultra Black, there’s a possibility that Ultra Sunrise could be released as a limited-time, store-exclusive product, making it difficult for people outside the U.S. to obtain. Since it’s called Sunrise and not just a color, I can’t help but wonder if there’s something special about the naming. With some people already having the product in hand, it’s expected to be released soon.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
