Red Bull Yellow, Orange and Cherry Editions Released

Posted on January 14, 2015 | Last updated February 20, 2025

Red Bull Yellow, Orange, and Cherry Editions ReleasedRed Bull will be adding three new flavors to North America in February 2015.
The Yellow edition is a renewal of the Summer Edition released in the summer of 2014.
Additionally, the Orange Edition and Cherry Edition will be available in silver cans. This brings the total number of editions in the series to five.

Orange Edition and Cherry Edition are Zero variants

You might have guessed from the design on the silver cans, but both the Orange Edition and Cherry Edition are Zero variants of Red Bull. From the current information available, we know that they will be sugar-free and calorie-free.
The silver color felt somewhat lacking, but it makes sense given that the concept is Zero.

On the other hand, the Yellow Edition is a regular retail version of the Summer Edition that was limited to 7-Eleven stores in the US during the summer of 2014. The flavor will be the same tropical flavor.

As mentioned in the news before, wasn't it Yellow Edition instead of Summer Edition? It looks like they’ve made it a proper series. The Summer Edition was sold in 250ml cans in Europe, but in the US, it came in 355ml cans, which felt somewhat odd due to the difference in size.

The United States is the most important market and mainstream

Red Bull Yellow, Orange, Cherry Editions released

The new Yellow Edition, Orange Edition, and Cherry Edition will all be released in 355ml cans, and 250ml cans will likely be sold in 4-packs. It's still unclear what will happen to the existing editions in terms of size, but there’s information suggesting that 355ml cans might be released for all editions.

Here are the key points about the new Red Bull editions:

  • Zero-calorie energy drinks
  • Expanded flavor options
  • Larger can sizes

These seem to be the key trends for the American market right now.

In 2014 and 2015, Monster released a total of 6 Zero-calorie Ultra series drinks, with 3 released in quick succession. The size of these cans was 473ml.
It's not just about releasing a lot of flavors, but the market share of Monster has caught up with Red Bull in 2013. Given the momentum of Monster’s growth, it seems that Red Bull’s original flavor and limited fruit flavors won’t be enough to stop Monster.

Therefore, the addition of the Orange and Cherry Editions likely meets the current demand for beverages in the US. Of course, expanding the Zero line is essential over just more flavor variations.

The real test will be how well Red Bull can establish its Zero-calorie fruit flavors once consumers try them!

After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries.
