America is JAVA MONSTER Campaign
A pretty cool product giveaway from the JAVA MONSTER campaign
In the U.S., a campaign started in July where you can buy JAVA MONSTER and win gear. Unlike Japan, you register by logging in to a site and entering the serial code on the underside of the pull tab. You can get products depending on how many codes you collect.
Unlike the limited edition gear in Japan, all the items are things you can use in daily life, which is quite enviable. Especially, the calm colors make them feel usable, and I think I could actually use them (*´艸`*).
However, the number of pull tabs required for redemption is ridiculously high, so you’d need to buy a lot of JAVA MONSTER compared to Japan to get them.
List of JAVA MONSTER Limited Gear and Required Tabs
Cooler Bag
Required tabs: 40, about $120
I really wanted this. I don’t think I’d actually take it out with me, but it would be useful for keeping cans or other things cool when I need to take something along.
Coaster Set
Required tabs: 20, about $60
A set of 4 coasters with a case. Over 6000 yen for this... It seems to be the least popular. I want it though, lol.
Slap Koosie
Required tabs: 5, about $15
A koozie that wraps around cans.
Stainless Steel Tumbler
Required tabs: 40, about $120
This is the JAVA gear I want the most. It's a double-walled tumbler that holds 14oz. You’d probably use it to drink cold JAVA at the office. The tab requirement is still high though. In Japan, it might be within 10 or 15 tabs.
Acrylic Tumbler
Required tabs: 15, about $45
A BPA-free acrylic tumbler. It’s a double-walled, 24oz tumbler with a straw, perfect for ice and JAVA MONSTER. You’d need to buy close to 5000 yen worth of JAVA MONSTER to get this. A bit pricey.
Notebook
Required tabs: 35, about $105
A sturdy Moleskine notebook with a JAVA MONSTER cover. This is amazing. I’ve always wanted to experience walking around campus drinking JAVA coffee with this notebook. Definitely want it, but over 10,000 yen is a lot!
Bag
Required tabs: 35, about $105
The design is based on a Guatemalan coffee bag. It looks really durable, haha.
16oz Can Tumbler
Required tabs: 25, about $75
An acrylic tumbler specifically for 16oz JAVA. The required tab count is quite crazy.
You need to buy and drink to enter
The serial code is written on the underside of the pull tab, so you can’t see it unless you open the can. Unlike Japan, where you can just peel off a sticker to enter, this prevents people from stealing the codes in-store. It’s a good way to avoid people selling peeled cans at cheap prices.
But to complete the collection, you’d need to buy 215 cans in total. It seems like it could cost about 70,000 yen. This limited gear campaign is on a whole new level, which makes it pretty interesting. You definitely can’t enter it half-heartedly, haha.
Japan's Campaigns Might Be Easier Compared to America's
Not only are the required numbers for Japan’s limited gear campaigns much lower and easier, but the shipping fees for these JAVA gears are also a factor. It’s about $4.95 per item, which is about 600 yen. Japan, however, gets free shipping by default. Plus, the items come separately, so the cost must really add up.
Buying over 200 cans and paying for shipping just to get JAVA gear… it’s incredible.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
