Major changes to Monster pull tabs, etc. & change to Red Bull blue 2016 version

Monster Pull Tab and Other Major Changes, and Red Bull Blue Edition 2016 Version Update
Since July, there has been a lot of buzz about the significant changes to Monster Energy's cans, and the Red Bull Blue Edition has also been updated to the 2016 version in Japan.

Monster Energy's Biggest Change: The Pull Tab

From left to right: new, old, new, old.
The change in the shape of the can itself is interesting, but the biggest change is the alteration in the pull tab and the drinking opening.

The can is manufactured in Japan, so this pull tab design is likely unique to Japan for now. I haven’t seen it in other countries. Also, the drinking opening has been made smaller to reduce spillovers.

The bold drinking experience from a larger opening is now subdued.

There are a few other minor design changes, but aside from the shape of the can, the updates are similar to minor changes seen in other countries.

It is expected that the Ultra and Abzero versions will gradually switch to these new versions. I will update this post once I get my hands on them (u_u*)

Red Bull Blue Edition Also Updated to 2016 Version

Red Bull's Blue Edition has also been updated to the 2016 version. The transition period is unclear, as the older versions are still mixed in, so it’s uncertain whether the new version started shipping in August or late July.

The silver line and text at the top of the can have been removed for a simpler design. This is a change unique to Japan. I personally preferred the previous version with the Japanese-exclusive message (^_^;)
However, the new design is clean and minimalistic.

The silver blue on the back has been updated to include more blue, now matching the design of this year's Edition series. This is a global change. In Japan, both the Spring Edition and Summer Edition have already been released with this design.
The American Orange Edition and Summer Edition Kiwi Twist also have the same design.

It would have been even more interesting if the blue tab had been introduced, just like the change to the yellow tab for the Yellow Edition in the U.S.

It's great to see global changes reaching Japan that appeal to energy drink enthusiasts (●´ω`●)

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
