Raizin is renewed as a drink for businessmen. Raizin Dry and Raizin Mild are released.
The Raizin brand, which was cool with its Color Wing series, has been rebranded starting April 11 for some reason to target business professionals. The renewed products come in two flavors: Raizin Dry and Raizin Mild. It's still unclear whether they will be labeled as energy drinks. The products themselves have taken a slight downturn, and it’s clear that the Raizin brand is showing some inconsistency now.
Possibly No Longer an Energy Drink...
According to Raizin's official website:
"RAIZIN is a new carbonated beverage jointly planned and developed with the creative direction of 'nendo,' a design office led by globally recognized designer 'Oki Sato.' This includes package design, product concept, and even flavor development. (Excerpt) Until now, we have entered the energy drink market with the 'RAIZIN' brand. The current energy drink market is primarily formed by young people in their teens to twenties, but this new 'RAIZIN' is aimed at business professionals who are mindful of work-life balance and addresses their potential needs as a new carbonated drink."
It’s written here, but there’s no mention of the product being an energy drink. Although it seems to be targeting the energy drink market, it’s turned out to be quite an unclear product direction.
Perhaps the energy drink target demographic is too far-fetched? The design may also be a matter of taste. The white background with colorful polygons represents "taste" and "stimulation" on a chart. Honestly, I would have preferred a simpler design. (´・ω・`)
RAIZIN DRY
185ml mini can. 190 yen per can (excluding tax).
It’s said to have a sharp flavor with strong ginger and spice notes. Seems to be the same spicy flavor as the previous Raizin drinks. This is something they couldn't compromise on.
RAIZIN MILD
Also a 185ml mini can. 190 yen per can (excluding tax).
Said to have a refreshing flavor combining eight types of plant aromas. Raizin Mild also contains ginger extract.
Raizin’s Wing Series Was Great, But...
It would have been quite interesting if Raizin had continued its Wing Series... but for some reason, the brand website has been completely revamped, and the Wing Series has been entirely discontinued. Moreover, the new products are no longer labeled as energy drinks and have shifted to being marketed as beverages for business professionals.
*What is an energy drink? A hardcore enthusiast defines and explains energy drinks in detail!
This means that Raizin will no longer be covered in the energy drink community.
The disappearance of the Red and Green flavors after the release of Purple Wing might have been a sign that "this just wasn’t going to work"... This could be the end of the large domestic energy drink brands. Anyway, the release date is April 11, so I’ll check whether the product has the energy drink label in stores.
⇒ Confirmation: No energy drink label, Raizin Dry and Raizin Mild are no longer energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I will not review this new product as it’s no longer in the energy drink category. I hope the Wing Series returns!
