USA: Red Bull Camouflage Cans Released Summer 2018, Store Exclusive!
For the summer of 2018, Red Bull has released a limited edition camouflage can exclusively at Dollar General stores in the USA. This design is similar to the previous Red Bull camouflage cans, with updates and additions to the text and details for the 2018 version.

Red Bull Camouflage and the USO

The Red Bull Camouflage cans, released as a limited edition in the USA for the summer, are the third generation of this design. However, from a more niche perspective, while the design remains the same as the third generation, the ingredient labeling and other details have been updated to the 2018 version, making this technically the fourth generation.

The Red Bull Camouflage cans are strongly reminiscent of the U.S. military. In fact, a portion of the sales from these cans at Dollar General stores will be donated to the USO (United Service Organizations), a charity supporting U.S. troops.

The cans are the same 16oz (473ml) size as the previous Camouflage cans, priced at $3.50.

Will They Be Sold on U.S. Military Bases?

For many in Japan, the big question is whether the 2018 Red Bull Camouflage cans will be sold at U.S. military bases in Japan. Many people may be hoping for this, especially after reading the news.

Although these cans are exclusively sold at Dollar General stores, there have been rumors that they might also be available on military bases. While this information remains unconfirmed, there is a possibility that they could be sold there, which would make it easier for people in Japan to get their hands on them without having to deal with the high hurdles of store exclusivity in the U.S.

However, even if the cans become available, it would be best to avoid the negative image that could come from energy drink fans buying in bulk. I hesitated to write about this release before large-scale base openings for this reason.

Lately, there have been purchase limits in place, but seeing hardcore collectors buying everything in sight may be off-putting to non-energy drink fans (and even I, an energy drink enthusiast, would be put off by that!). It would be a shame if others showed up later and found the cans sold out.

Ideally, everyone—longtime base fans, America enthusiasts, locals, and energy drink fans—could enjoy the experience in a balanced way.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
