America: Two New Rockstar XDURANCE Flavors Released, TMGS Now Available Nationwide!?
Rockstar has released two new XDURANCE flavors—Red and Blue. Additionally, #TMGS, which was previously exclusive to AMPM, has now been added to the official website, suggesting a nationwide release. This is huge!

Flavor of the New XDURANCE: 300mg of Caffeine

Rockstar’s latest summer 2018 release is the second installment of the XDURANCE series in the U.S. This time, it packs a powerful 300mg of caffeine along with creatine, while keeping the calorie count to just 10kcal. It’s clear that this product is geared toward the fitness world.

This release features two flavors in a rare "Big Star" design for the U.S. market. The red variant is called RIPPED RED, and the blue one is SMASHED BLUE. Both the design and names are incredibly bold! (*´艸`*)

Competing Against bang, the Top Fitness Energy Drink

Since 2017, bang Energy has been aggressively expanding, with a rapid stream of new flavors and major distribution growth this year. Seeing it firsthand in the U.S., I was truly surprised at how fast it was spreading.

America: Two New Rockstar XDURANCE Flavors Released, TMGS Now Available Nationwide!?
bang has set itself apart from the traditional energy drink market with its sharp marketing and strong positioning as a serious fitness-focused energy drink brand. Experiencing it in Los Angeles during the summer of 2018, I felt that bang’s presence in stores had dramatically increased—almost unstoppable.

Previously, it was mainly available in supplement shops, with limited presence in convenience stores and supermarkets. But now… well, check out the Energy Drink Travel Journal for more details.
※Currently in progress.

With bang dominating the functional energy drink segment, it’s understandable why Rockstar decided to revamp its previous sports-focused XDURANCE series into a fitness-style energy drink that closely resembles bang. Honestly, Rockstar has always had a reputation for following trends rather than setting them, so this move isn’t surprising. But seriously, isn’t anyone calling them out for copying too much? (^_^;)

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find these in Los Angeles during the summer of 2018. Given the nature of these energy drinks, LA should have been one of the first places to stock them!

#TMGS Added to the Official Website, Hinting at a Nationwide Release

Previously exclusive to AMPM, #TMGS has now been added to Rockstar’s official website, suggesting that it may soon be available in stores nationwide. (Since it has already started selling on Amazon U.S., a full national rollout is highly likely.)

For energy drink travelers, store exclusivity adds an extra layer of excitement, so it’s a bit of a shame to see #TMGS go nationwide. Another downside? AMPM doesn’t accept credit cards. Yes, in the U.S., the land of credit cards!

That said, with a nationwide release, I can finally go all out with card payments! Since I usually carry little to no cash, this is a welcome change. Plus, there’s a chance that the can design might get updated, which adds another element of excitement.

Interestingly, "TMGS" is derived from the initials of its flavor names while also referencing AMPM’s catchphrase. Before it appeared on Rockstar’s official website, I was convinced it would remain an AMPM-exclusive forever. If it does go nationwide, we might see it roll out by fall.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
