January 2020: A rush of new North American rock star releases
From the end of 2019, Rockstar's new releases have been available in select stores, and as of January 2020, they officially launched nationwide across the U.S.
In addition, Rockstar's new series has also seen a wide release in Canada. Rockstar's activities are picking up across North America.
New Rockstar Juiced Series
Rockstar's juice series with fruit juice has been introduced and discontinued multiple times in the past. In 2020, two new variants are being released.
Unlike previous designs, these have a more natural feel. With Rockstar gaining big-star status in North America in 2020, it's interesting to see a design without the typical star.
Each can has 20 kcal, is low in calories, and contains 8% fruit juice. It's a sugar-free juice, so it will be interesting to see if it tastes good.
New Rockstar Thermo Series
The Rockstar Thermo series has been available in select AMPM stores since the end of 2019. Although some overseas sources said it was an exclusive release, it was actually a pre-launch.
Amid the current fitness energy drink trend, Rockstar is launching this new series. It includes two flavors: Tropical Fire and Neon Blast, both new. With 300 mg of caffeine and 1000 mg of BCAA, it’s being marketed as a fat-burning energy drink series. However, 1 g of BCAA is a fairly small amount, so it’s likely only a minimal benefit (^_^;).
At the same time, Rockstar Thermo has launched in Canada with four flavors, though it contains less caffeine at 180 mg.
While low-caffeine Bang has already been released in Canada, this product seems to be competing with that. Since the high-caffeine XDURANCE series hasn't been sold in Canada, the Thermo series is bringing over flavors from the U.S. XDURANCE lineup.
Personally, I think 300 mg of caffeine is a bit much, so I’m fine with the lower caffeine content in Canada. In the U.S., some brands seem to be going overboard with caffeine, and when you visit stores, it’s clear that things have gotten a little extreme Σ(´∀`;).
2020: Big Star Status for Rockstar in the U.S.
While the official U.S. site still features the previous designs, Rockstar has already begun to roll out its big-star branding in stores.
I’m not a huge fan of the big-star design, but the recovery version looks much cooler. It seems like traveling to the U.S. this year is going to be even more fun ((o(´∀`)o)).

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
