Monster Energy Ultra Paradise Colorant Error, Recall, and Suspension of Shipment
On December 8, 2020, Asahi Beverages announced that there was an error in the labeling of the colorant used in the Monster Energy Ultra Paradise. However, it was confirmed that the product’s quality is unaffected, and it is still safe to consume.

The error in the labeling of the colorant in Monster Energy Ultra Paradise was in the listed colorants.

Monster Energy Ultra Paradise Colorant Error, Recall, and Suspension of Shipment
Incorrect: Colorants (Yellow No. 5, Blue No. 1)
Correct: Colorants (Yellow No. 4, Blue No. 1)

It was not that the wrong contents were filled, but rather that there was an error in the ingredient labeling. Since there is no issue with the product itself, it is safe to consume those that have already been purchased.

By the way, both Yellow No. 4 and the mistakenly labeled Yellow No. 5 do not pose any harm to the human body and are used as food colorants in Japan as well.

It is speculated that the error in labeling might have occurred due to using the ingredient list from the American version of MONSTER ENERGY ULTRA PARADISE.
As shown in the photo, it lists "YELLOW #5, BLUE #1."

Monster Energy Ultra Paradise is Currently Suspended from Shipment

Upon inquiring with Asahi Beverages, despite there being no issue with the product's ingredients, due to the labeling error, they responded with the following:

  • Currently suspended from shipment
  • In-store stock is being recalled
  • Next shipment date is undecided

It is unclear when the error was discovered and publicly announced, or how much unsellable stock is available, but it’s unfortunate that the product cannot be shipped. It would be a waste to dispose of something safe to drink.
