Power Point Classic
Power Point Classic is a low-cost energy drink from Germany. Despite being a budget energy drink, the brand has continued to surprise with a series of game collaboration cans. This original flavor, Power Point Classic, has had the most collaboration cans released.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Power Point Classic
Upon opening the can, the aroma is unmistakably a classic flavor. It's similar to Red Bull, without any overwhelming sweetness or chemical scent.
When poured into a glass, the color is exactly what you'd expect for a classic flavor. The scent matches, so it all makes sense.
The first impression upon tasting is a tangy, watery classic flavor. It's closer to Red Bull but with a weaker sweetness and no heavy aftertaste. There’s a slight perfume-like fragrance, but overall, it’s just a standard classic flavor.
The aftertaste is tangy with a lingering aroma, so it’s not overly mild, but the liquid has almost no viscosity, flowing smoothly like water, which might leave you wanting more.
A typical characteristic of classic flavors is that they tend to add a strange taste or scent to stand out. These unnecessary tweaks often end up being unpleasant, but Power Point Classic avoids that, offering a drinkable, standard flavor. If you were to line up a bunch of classic flavors and taste test them, it might be difficult to pick out Power Point due to its smoothness. That subtle smoothness might just be its unique trait.
Energy Ingredients of Power Point Classic
It contains 80mg of caffeine and 1,000mg of taurine, along with small amounts of niacin and inositol, as is typical with energy drinks.
There aren’t any special ingredients, but it covers the standard ingredients similar to Red Bull, so at 100 yen (although it has recently increased a bit), it's still a solid choice.
Power Point Energy Drink's Game Collaborations
Especially the Power Point Classic that I'm reviewing here has had many game collaboration cans, and after its design renewal in 2017, it continuously released collaboration cans with game themes. It has now become recognized as one of the energy drink brands closely associated with the gaming community. In Germany, gamers buy these in bulk, and it's expected that more collaboration cans will be released in the future.
While Monster and Rockstar’s game collaboration cans are sought after by collectors around the world, sadly, smaller brands like Power Point tend to be overlooked. I guess most people don’t even know Power Point as an energy drink brand, which is unfortunate (´・ω・`).
I really like how the matte texture of the can and the contrast of silver and black don’t interfere with the full design on the front, but enhance it instead (●´ω`●).
The “PFANDFREI” label on the top of the can indicates that there’s no deposit fee for recycling the can.
Generally, drink containers have a deposit fee included, and if you place them in a return machine, you get money back. Power Point cans are exempt from this. Typically, energy drink cans have details about their energy ingredients, but this one is a bit different (^_^;).
Silver tab, with no logo printed on it.
In Europe, even low-cost energy brands sometimes feature color tabs or unique brand logos, so I wish Power Point would do more of that.
When traveling abroad, it’s fun to enjoy local energy drinks that are popular in each country, so if you're visiting Germany, be sure to grab some of the Power Point energy drink series!
