In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of Power Point Waldmeister
As I pour it into the glass, a rich honey-like cooked scent with a hint of raisin, along with a herbal aroma, fills the air. With this scent, what can the taste be like?
But this color, it's amazing. The typical color of an energy drink. It turns out that products using Waldmeister in Germany all have this green color. It might be similar to how Japan’s Sakura flavor has a color that matches its theme.
As for the taste... a refreshing acidity and a smooth syrupy sweetness, with the herbal distinctive flavor lingering after. It’s a clean taste.
While enjoying the refreshing acidity and herbal aroma, the gentle sweetness of sugar also comes through, making it highly satisfying. The aftertaste and aroma are not unpleasant, and it’s easy to drink. Overall, it’s a well-balanced flavor that doesn’t feel like a 100 yen energy drink (●´ω`●).
However, the herbal aroma and flavor may not be for everyone.
Energy Ingredients of Power Point Waldmeister
Caffeine 80mg, Taurine 1000mg, and Apple juice seem to round it off. There aren’t any notable energy ingredients, and Waldmeister itself doesn’t seem to be included. For a 100 yen low-cost energy drink, this is sufficient.
The label on top of the can. I thought there might be some ingredient list, but it actually mentions that the deposit fee is not included. German products have a barcode with a bottle and arrow mark, indicating that a deposit fee is included in the product. You can learn about the world through energy drinks! w
Interesting Choice of Waldmeister
What is Waldmeister? After looking it up, I found green jelly, gummies, cocktails, and even green beer that you drink through a straw. There were articles by Japanese people who moved to Germany and experienced Waldmeister-flavored foods and drinks for the first time.
As I explored, I got the urge to try Waldmeister beer locally, and there are probably souvenir sweets too. Drinking Power Point Waldmeister has made me want to visit Germany (*´艸`*).
The tab is a silver tab. With many redesigns and collaborations over time, I’d love to see them focus on color tabs too.
Power Point is an interesting brand that creates unique flavors from its country for its 100 yen low-cost energy drinks. Plus, it’s only 100 yen. I think I’ll try various Waldmeister-flavored foods and drinks when I visit Germany (●´ω`●).
