This is a review of PRIME ENERGY ORIGINAL, released in October 2023 as part of the energy drink series promoted by Logan Paul and KSI.

The PRIME ENERGY series initially launched with five flavors, and the sixth flavor, PRIME ENERGY ICE POP, was added. Up until that point, there hadn’t been an "original" flavor in the PRIME ENERGY lineup. Then, for some reason, PRIME ENERGY ORIGINAL was released as the seventh flavor.

In a series known for its colorful products, this can stands out with its black-and-white design. With no flavor description on the can, it’s hard to tell what kind of taste to expect. Let’s dive into the review and find out more.

Flavor of PRIME ENERGY ORIGINAL

Upon opening the can, a faint artificial bubblegum scent wafts out. The fragrance is relatively weak, so it’s hard to imagine the taste before drinking. Based on the can color and the look of the liquid inside, it might remind you of Monster Ultra, but since all PRIME ENERGY cans have this color scheme, you can't pinpoint the flavor just by looking. Let’s take a sip and find out.

When I take a sip, I taste a mild citrus flavor with a subtle sourness and the faint, lingering aroma of artificial bubblegum.

The citrus flavor is very subtle, not strongly resembling specific fruits like lime or grapefruit, but rather just a general citrus note. Therefore, it’s not the fresh, bitter, or juicy flavor of citrus fruits.

The slight chemical scent of bubblegum blends with a smooth, non-offensive sweetness and a citrus-like tang, giving it a refreshing, almost Aquarius-like feel.

If I had to describe it as a "hard-to-place flavor," it could remind me of Monster Ultra as well. With the distinct bubblegum aroma, the perception and description of the taste may vary depending on the person.

I’ve been thinking about what this "PRIME ENERGY ORIGINAL" is all about, considering its fairly neutral flavor. Personally, I believe it might have been designed to be a "base flavor for the existing PRIME ENERGY lineup."

I imagine that based on this base flavor, the characteristic aromas of other flavors could be added, with adjustments to sweetness and sourness to create something like the PRIME ENERGY Orange flavor. While this may or may not be the case, the "Original" concept as a product name does seem fitting.

The simple black-and-white color scheme is paired with hand-drawn illustrations, making it stand out from the other flavors that have been released so far.

The PRIME logo has a 3D effect, with shadows drawn in by hand, and all other text is written in a rough, hand-drawn font.

When I first saw this design, I thought it might represent "hand-drawn prototype designs" created during the development of the PRIME ENERGY series.

As I mentioned in the flavor review, if PRIME ENERGY ORIGINAL is the base that led to the development of many other flavors, the rough design might have been intentionally chosen to evoke the feel of a "prototype." That would be a fun touch.
