Fruit Flavor That Feels Like Children's Medicine

When opening the can, a scent similar to that of Oronamin C-type drinks and artificial fruity notes fill the air. It reminds me a lot of the "Purple Wing" that RAIZIN used to sell, and the can color is also the same purple.

Upon drinking it, the sweet fruit mix flavor of pineapple, passion fruit, and other tropical fruits brings back memories of Purple Wing. There's no fruity texture, and it has a smooth mouthfeel with a light taste that leaves no residue.

There's no acidity or bitterness, just a mild sweetness. The scent is subtle, and while you know it's tropical fruit-flavored, the artificial taste makes it hard to fully capture the tropical essence.

The aftertaste is clean and doesn't linger, giving a refreshing impression. However, the lack of lingering flavors may leave some feeling unsatisfied.

Tropical fruit flavors have become popular lately, such as in "Pipeline Punch," but RAIZIN Tropical Crush is a completely different approach with its zero-zero smooth texture, not as rich or fruity as those juice-infused options.

If you enjoy a slightly artificial feel and a refreshing, non-lingering taste, Tropical Crush might be perfect for you.

RAIZIN TROPICAL CRUSH (Tropical Crush) Energy Ingredients

It contains 1035mg of galangal extract, which is ginger-based. There’s no caffeine included. The packaging says it’s made from "plant-based ingredients to replace caffeine," but don’t expect the energizing effects of caffeine.

With zero caffeine, zero calories, and zero sugar, this seems like a gentle option for the body, and it’s definitely appreciated by reviewers. However, it’s questionable whether energy drink consumers are specifically looking for a triple-zero product. Personally, I think it's safer to include some caffeine and just go for a zero-sugar approach, but this is already the seventh product in the RAIZIN series with triple-zero.

It’s a tropical fruit flavor, but purple. The gentle purple color, which doesn’t scream energy drink, reminds me of Japan's delicious grapes... At first glance, it gives off the impression of a grape or acai-flavored drink.

The RAIZIN Purple Wing, which was released earlier, also had a purple can with a tropical fruit flavor, so purple might be the color RAIZIN uses to represent tropical fruits. In that sense, it might actually make sense.

The “EneXtra” text is now gone from the front of the can, and the zero labels are soft, giving it a less sharp energy drink vibe. Perhaps it’s the gentle purple color that conveys this impression.

According to the press release from Taisho Pharmaceutical, the design is inspired by "the sunset sinking into a tropical beach, with the gradient representing a sunset blending into ocean blue." However, it's a bit difficult to imagine this from just the color and the square logo, without palm trees or fruit silhouettes to really evoke the theme.

That being said, I personally like how the RAIZIN series always allows you to easily imagine the flavor from just the product name.
