Released in 2013 in the U.S. as one of the three Red Bull Editions, here’s a review of Red Bull Blue Edition.
Despite containing no fruit juice, its incredible taste is something that amazes me every time I drink it.

A vibrant purple that perfectly represents a blueberry flavor. The aroma is rich with a sweet and tangy fruitiness, offering a pleasant blueberry scent.

As expected, the taste is a deliciously tart blueberry flavor. The sweetness is kept in check, allowing the refreshing blueberry taste to shine, while its distinct aroma lingers.

One notable characteristic is the clean finish—there’s no lingering aftertaste, making it incredibly easy to drink. The realistic blueberry flavor is enjoyable, yet it doesn’t overwhelm, making it easy to gulp down.

250ml just isn’t enough… Luckily, in 2015, a 355ml can was introduced in the U.S., finally allowing fans to enjoy a larger portion of Blue Edition. A great decision!

Red Bull Blue Edition
When Blue Edition was first released, many in Japan mistakenly thought it was simply Red Bull Original with added blueberry flavor. Some even commented that it "tastes like Red Bull," which was surprising.

In reality, Blue Edition does not contain the original Red Bull flavor—it’s purely a blueberry juice-like taste. Perhaps it was a case of expectation bias. The concept behind Blue Edition is to enjoy a delicious blueberry flavor while keeping the classic Red Bull energy formula, so try drinking it without thinking about the original taste!

Energy Ingredients of Red Bull Blue Edition

With 80mg of caffeine and 1000mg of taurine, the energy blend remains consistent with other Red Bull products.

Surprisingly, it contains no actual blueberry juice. Yet, the blueberry flavor is so well-executed that you wouldn’t think otherwise.

Perfectly Balanced Flavor—A Classic Blueberry Energy Drink

Even years after my first sip, Red Bull Blue Edition continues to impress with its outstanding taste.

It’s not an overpowering, thick blueberry flavor, nor is it too light—it strikes the perfect balance of taste and aroma. This makes it a universally enjoyable blueberry drink, creating what feels like a "classic" blueberry energy drink experience.

No matter how many cans I drink, I never get tired of it. For an edition series flavor, achieving such a high level of perfection from the very start feels almost miraculous.

Red Bull Blue Edition in Japan

This incredible Blue Edition was also released in Japan as a limited-edition flavor. While it later became a standard product, the flavor unfortunately changed from blueberry to grape. That was a disappointment, but at least for a time, we got to experience the true blueberry flavor in Japan.

Red Edition may not have made it, and neither did Silver Edition, but Blue Edition being chosen for release in Japan speaks volumes about its exceptional quality.
