RED BULL GREEN EDITION Curuba Elderflower

Posted on December 13, 2024 | Last updated January 27, 2025

RED BULL GREEN EDITION Curuba Elderflower
Released in November 2024, the "Red Bull SUMMER EDITION 2024 Curuba Elderflower," which debuted in the U.S., has already become a regular offering, and today I’m reviewing the RED BULL GREEN EDITION Curuba Elderflower.

The previously available "Red Bull GREEN EDITION Dragon Fruit" was discontinued with the launch of this new RED BULL GREEN EDITION.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

Flavor of RED BULL GREEN EDITION Curuba Elderflower

Upon opening the can, a sweet and tangy aroma of apple and kiwi, along with a smooth, sweet fragrance, escapes. Having already tasted it in summer, the enticing smell makes me eager to drink it. Let's take a sip.

When I take a sip, the sweet and tangy juiciness of apple, the fresh acidity of passion fruit, and a smooth, mild flavor that I believe is inspired by elderflower, all blend together in a refined and delicious way!

The floral, mellow aroma reminiscent of elderflower is a standout feature. Elderflower is often used in energy drinks across Europe, so it's wonderful that we can now enjoy this distinct European flavor in North America and other countries.

The elderflower flavor here is more subtle compared to other European products, and it enhances rather than overpowers the tropical fruit flavor of "Curuba."

"Curuba," known for its yellow appearance and flavor, is also called "banana passion fruit."

The fruity taste with a refreshing passion fruit-like acidity likely comes from the "Curuba" flavor.

The combination of this exotic tropical flavor and the calm elderflower makes me very happy that this summer-exclusive product has been made a regular offering in the U.S. and will continue to be available there.

Energy Ingredients of RED BULL GREEN EDITION Curuba Elderflower

It contains 114mg of caffeine and 1420mg of taurine, which are standard amounts for energy drinks.

The matte lime green and white font color create a very fresh impression. The flavor name is in contrasting orange, giving it a tropical vibe.

This RED BULL GREEN EDITION is a regular product based on the 2024 U.S. Summer Edition released that same year.

End of 2024 in the U.S.

Until 2024, the U.S. had been selling the same-named "Red Bull GREEN EDITION Dragon Fruit," which was just being phased out around the time I bought this new version in the U.S.

In the fridge, you can see the 2024 Summer Edition on the left, the soon-to-be-discontinued Red Bull GREEN EDITION Dragon Fruit on the bottom left, and the newly released RED BULL GREEN EDITION Curuba Elderflower on the right.

I love taking photos like this that capture the perfect timing of product transitions, and it’s one of the joys of energy drink collecting.

Old and New GREEN EDITION

I’ve placed the old and new Green Editions alongside the Summer Editions. Both Green Editions were originally released as summer exclusives and have now become regular products. Both flavors are so good that it’s impossible to say one is better than the other.

That’s why it’s a shame that the Dragon Fruit flavor will be discontinued. Even though both are called "Green Edition," they look so different—why did they have to share the same name?

First-Generation GREEN EDITION

This is the limit when using color names to represent a wide range of flavors.
There was once a similar yellow-green "RED BULL GREEN EDITION Kiwi Apple."

I've been writing about the limitations of using color to describe flavors for 5 to 6 years, and unfortunately, this trend seems set to continue beyond 2025.

Incidentally, in Austria, the Curuba Elderflower has been made a regular offering under the name "Lime Green Edition," and the Dragon Fruit Green Edition is still being sold alongside it. I would have liked the same to happen in the U.S., but perhaps Dragon Fruit didn’t sell well there.
