In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.

More Sweetness, Please

While there are many sweet and rich energy drinks even in sugar-free versions, Red Bull Sugarfree seems to have a stronger grape-like acidity. On the other hand, I wonder if it's okay for a sugar-free drink to still be sweet, so it might be fine to change the flavor to this extent. The sweetness is slightly toned down, and the medicinal taste may have become a bit more pronounced.

When chilled, the sweetness becomes even less noticeable. Drinking an ice-cold Sugarfree will likely make you feel it’s lacking something. The sweetness is greatly reduced, and the characteristic Red Bull aroma lingers. If you want to savor the taste, I recommend drinking it at room temperature.ヽ(´ー`)ノ

Too Refreshing Red Bull

It’s like the "too beautiful" version of something. While it still retains the Red Bull scent and acidity, the aftertaste is lighter, and the lingering sweetness is gone. If you’re not a fan of regular Red Bull, you might find Sugarfree easier to drink. It’s still Red Bull-like but with the sweetness dialed back.

On the flip side, those who prefer rich energy drinks may find it too refreshing and feel like it’s a betrayal of the original. Especially those hardcore fans of thick energy drinks who would probably be outraged saying, "It’s too cold, and it doesn't even taste anymore!"
