This is a review of the Red Bull Summer Edition 2014, which was released as a limited edition tropical fruit flavor in North America starting in the summer of 2014.

After its release in the U.S., it was launched in various European countries and has become a long-running bestseller, continuing to be sold even after more than 10 years. Naturally, it has also become a popular and long-loved flavor in Japan as a regular product.

News before the Summer Edition release covered this, and it is part of the limited summer Red Bull Edition series. Since it was labeled as a tropical flavor, I imagined it would be sweet and syrupy before trying it.

Upon opening, the scent was surprisingly strong with citrus notes. The flavor was similarly bold with a strong citrus flavor, which was not what I expected. Unlike the sweet tropical fruit flavors, it doesn't leave a heavy aftertaste. Instead, the strong citrus fragrance lingers even after drinking.

The fruits that come through in the Summer Edition are pineapple, guava, passion fruit, lemon, and a hint of mango, creating a satisfying finish with strong acidity and aroma. It's a refreshing and crisp tropical fruit flavor, so even if it's not blazing hot, it's delicious at room temperature. Of course, chilling it makes it even more refreshing, perfect when you want to recharge (*´ｪ`*).

When thinking of tropical flavors, I expected something like Monster’s M-80, RIPPER, or KNOCKOUT Monky Punch with a rich sweetness, but the Summer Edition turned out to be a much more citrusy and tart fruit flavor.

However, compared to other Edition series flavors, this one aligns with the fresh, tropical vibe it promises.

Since Red Bull is juice-free, I guess making it overly rich would risk ruining the image with added thickeners or the like.

In the 355ml can, it contains 114mg of caffeine. This is the same amount as the other Red Bull drinks (32mg/100ml). The other ingredients are almost identical to the usual Red Bull.

While the North American version is 355ml, in some parts of Europe, it is actually sold in 250ml cans, so the ingredient amounts may vary in those cases. Either way, the caffeine content and sugar levels aren’t too high, making it an accessible limited-edition Red Bull for many.
