When opened, a sweet and sour blueberry flavor aroma bursts out. Given that the Blue Edition with blueberry flavor is already being sold, what will this Juneberry taste like?

As I take a sip, the sweet and sour blueberry flavor spreads in my mouth. The texture is clear, and the aroma is light and not overly strong, giving it a delicate flavor. The sweetness and umami of sugar are not overly emphasized, so in a way, it has a natural feel.

As a result, after drinking, the blueberry scent lingers slightly, and the aftertaste is light, which is the distinctive feature of the Juneberry flavor.

Personally, I prefer a more complex flavor with a stronger sense of real fruit, so I would go for the existing Blue Edition if that’s what I’m after.

In Canada, just like in the U.S., there are two size options: 355ml and 250ml. The 355ml size feels a bit much. I think the 250ml size is the best.

SEA BLUE EDITION Becomes a Regular Item

In the latter half of 2023, the product name changed from "SUMMER EDITION" to "SEA BLUE EDITION," and it became a regular item. The quick transition to a regular item suggests that the decision was made beforehand, rather than based on the taste’s evaluation.

I find it difficult to understand why both this and the existing Blue Edition are sold together, so I’ll be keeping an eye on how both flavors evolve in the future.

Contains 114mg of caffeine and 1420mg of taurine, which is a standard amount for Red Bull.

Design of Red Bull SUMMER EDITION 2023 Juneberry

The can has a matte texture, with bright blue and white text creating a refreshing impression. The design is the same in all countries except the U.S.

The silver Bull logo at the top of the can is common to other editions, but the white text of this Summer Edition adds to the overall bright and refreshing impression.

Juneberry color???

While the SUMMER EDITION 2023 has a clean and refreshing feel, there’s no real connection between the light blue can color and the actual color of the Juneberry fruit.

As I’ve pointed out in previous years, it’s difficult to convey the taste and appeal of the product just through the can color. Over time, many of the easily identifiable flavor colors have been used up, and we’re now seeing more overlap in can colors.

Instead of simply releasing new products with different can colors, it would be better to explore more distinctive designs that convey the unique characteristics of each flavor.

Should Red Bull's Design Be Reformed Soon?

Red Bull once fell behind Monster Energy in the U.S. due to the lack of flavor expansion, and they were also slow to adopt larger-sized cans.

Now, I worry that a lack of innovation in design could result in a loss of appeal. Since 2020, especially in the U.S., many new and unique energy drink brands have emerged, so there’s a high chance that Red Bull’s designs may start to look less distinctive.

By the summer of 2023, both the summer and winter editions planned for 2024 already have their designs locked in, so unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like there will be any immediate redesigns.
