Upon opening, the sweet aroma characteristic of mango flavor fills the air. It's the typical mango flavor profile you often come across. Let's take a sip and find out how it tastes.

When I take a sip, I get a refreshing blend of mango and pineapple, with a balanced combination of sweetness and acidity, allowing me to fully enjoy the distinctive flavors of both fruits.

The flavor isn't overly sweet, and the acidity doesn't dominate; the aroma isn't too strong either. It achieves a perfect balance, ensuring neither mango nor pineapple overpowers the other. The aftertaste is clean, with little residue, making it a refreshing drink with a sharp finish.

By the way, when drinking it at a temperature close to room temperature, the sweet mango flavor stands out more. But if it's chilled, it reaches its optimal taste with a perfect mango & pineapple mix.

Adding ice brings out the crisp pineapple flavor, resulting in a refreshing, summer-like taste that is perfect for the season.

Both the taste and aroma leave just the right amount of lingering aftertaste, and the refreshing feel of the ice-cold drink truly gives off the vibes of a summer edition.

Personally, I highly recommend it with ice. It turns into a fresh flavor that will transport you to the beach, perfect for Japan's hot and humid summer.

Speaking of the beach, it reminds me of the first Summer Edition I drank at the air race venue beach back in 2016. Drinking the 2023 Summer Edition, I was once again struck by how great the culture of Red Bull’s “experience” is. The memories from 6–7 years ago came flooding back. As I’ve written in my Twitter profile, "Energy drinks become more interesting with the experience," and this is exactly true.

It contains 80mg of caffeine and 300mg of arginine. Without any fruit juice, it follows the same ingredient structure as the other Red Bull edition series.

With a matte orange and white color scheme, this design gives off a refreshing impression for the summer edition.

In Japan, the almost identical orange color was used for the Orange Edition released in 2022. Therefore, there is nothing particularly new about the can color or design, and many people who aren’t familiar with Red Bull might not be able to tell what’s different.

Perhaps because of this, the “NEW” label was added to this year’s Summer Edition. This stands out on the simple Red Bull design.

I hope this makes it clear that it's a new product and a new flavor.

The previous issue I pointed out in reviews of Japan’s edition series, where the flavor name was often replaced with abstract product names in spots where the flavor should have been, has been effectively resolved. Now, the flavor name is clearly displayed on the front, following the global design.

The Japanese text, however, might seem a bit tacky... There are cases where fruit names in English differ from their Japanese names, so it might be tricky to decide whether to use katakana or English. Personally, I’d prefer English.

Oh, and since the flavor name is now on the front, the phrase “◯◯ Flavor” that used to be on the back is no longer there.

Red Bull, which uses just color changes for flavor variations, might feel a bit subdued when compared to other energy drinks with flashy designs. While I like this chic vibe, I also hope that the brand can innovate in design.

On June 6, both the ZONe Crazy Vacances and the Red Bull Summer Edition 2023 Mango Pineapple were released. Both are summer energy drinks with the same mango and pineapple flavors.

The massive size difference is quite striking. ZONe stands out in terms of cost performance for the same price range. Perhaps Red Bull intentionally released the same flavor on the same day as a competitive move!?

While Red Bull remains a solid player with its original products, I'm curious to see how they’ll respond to competitors with different capacities, prices, and unique designs in upcoming new products.

ZONEのクレイジーバカンスと比べるとこっちの方が心なしか若干濃い感じがしました。また、初代サマーエディションと比べると、こっちは柑橘系の感じではなく、南国の熟れたフルーツが強く、とても美味しかったです。個人的には氷を入れず、冷蔵温度まで冷やして飲むのが美味しいと思いました。
