When opened, a sweet and sour aroma of plum, cherry, and berry spreads. Unlike the 2016 Winter Edition, there is of course no cinnamon scent. Let's try it as a completely different flavor.

When you take a sip, you are enveloped in a rich taste and aroma of sweet and sour plum, cherry, and blackberry. If the acidity were too strong, the flavor could become light, but Plum Twist maintains a strong plum flavor throughout due to the presence of sugar and the intensity of its aroma. This is delicious~ (*´艸｀*)

Although there is no real fruitiness, the balance between the intensity of the sweet and sour flavor and the strong aroma is excellent, and the lingering plum aroma ensures that this flavor is definitely satisfying to drink.

There is almost no aftertaste left in the mouth after drinking. The acidity doesn't linger on the tongue for long, and despite the strong flavor, it is easy to drink and enjoyable.

If you've ever tried the 2016 Winter Edition Zwetschke-Zimtnelke (Plum Cinnamon flavor), you might compare it, but if you evaluate Plum Twist purely on its own, I think it's more than good enough for the Edition series, and I highly recommend it to those who seek a strong energy drink flavor.

Energy Ingredients of Red Bull WINTER EDITION 2017 Plum Twist

Contains 114mg of caffeine and 1420mg of taurine. There are no special energy ingredients, and it has the same composition as regular Red Bull.

As with other Edition series, it has no fruit juice. However, the sweet and sour taste and rich aroma still offer a fruit-like experience.

Comparing the Canadian and American Versions

I compared the Canadian Plum Twist, released in 2017, with the American version, which was released a year later in 2018.

The color remains unchanged, and of course, the aroma is exactly the same.

Since there was a one-year gap in release dates, I thought there might be a difference in taste, but the taste and aroma are exactly the same. Both offer the sweet and sour, rich plum and berry flavors.

It's great that the North American Red Bull Edition series comes in the 355ml big size, allowing you to enjoy more of it. Plus, it remains delicious and enjoyable until the very end.

Comparing the Canadian Plum Twist with the German and Korean Versions of Plum Cinnamon

Now, the main topic begins here. Unlike the North American Winter Edition, which has a plum flavor, the German and Korean versions retain the spicy Plum Cinnamon flavor from the original Austrian version. I already know the taste difference, but I’d like to compare them just to show the differences.

German Version with Cinnamon

First, let's compare with Germany. On the left is the Canadian version (355ml), and on the right is the German version (250ml).

The color is almost the same, but the aroma is completely different. The German version has a more subdued fruity aroma with a slight hint of cinnamon spice.

The base flavor of the German version is still plum, but with a milder acidity, the plum flavor feels much more subdued. There is a slight acidity, but the cinnamon aroma drifts through and provides a calming feeling. Adding cinnamon makes a big difference.

If you enjoy "fruity and sweet-sour rich flavors," you might find the North American Plum Twist more delicious.

Korean Version with Cinnamon

Next, I opened the Korean version. When you open the Korean Winter Edition, the cinnamon aroma is quite strong.

On the left is the Canadian version (355ml), and on the right is the Korean version (250ml).

The color of the Korean version is more reddish, unlike the bluish-purple hue of the North American version. It's a bit hard to tell...

This difference comes from the fact that Korean Red Bull is slightly unique. I thought there would be a larger difference compared to the German version, but the color difference is even more noticeable.

The Korean Winter Edition has a stronger cinnamon spice aroma, and the plum flavor itself feels a little heavier than the Canadian version. When chilled, the taste and aroma tend to fade, so it’s best enjoyed at a temperature closer to room temperature to savor the full flavor and aroma. After drinking, the cinnamon aroma lingers pleasantly, giving a cozy winter feel, which is perfect for a winter version of Red Bull.

Given it's a winter edition, I personally think a warm, cinnamon-flavored drink suits the season better.

The Plum Twist can be enjoyed all year round, even outside the winter season.

Seasonal editions often turn into regular products the following year, and it might have been more convenient to have the simple plum edition available year-round.

The tab is a silver tab.

If it becomes a regular product, it might even be available with a colored tab, like yellow, green, or orange (which all had colored tabs).

2018: Plum Twist Returns to Canada

The Red Bull Winter Edition Plum Twist that was released in Canada in 2017. I thought it might be rebranded as the "Plum Edition" and become a regular product the following year, but in 2018, it wasn’t made a regular product.

However, for some reason, the same Winter Edition Plum Twist from 2017 returned as a limited edition in Canada in 2018. This is the first time a season edition has been released two years in a row. Perhaps it was so popular in Canada that they decided to bring it back!
