ROCKSTAR BAJA GUAVA LIME
This is a review of the guava flavor from the ROCKSTAR BAJA series, which was released in the spring of 2019 as a regional limited edition in the U.S., expanded nationwide, and discontinued within a year. I picked it up in San Francisco right after its release.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of ROCKSTAR BAJA GUAVA LIME
A vibrant pink, typical of guava-flavored drinks. Most of Rockstar's past guava products have this color. Let's give it a try.
Upon tasting, a smooth tropical sweetness and fragrance fill the mouth, along with a faint floral scent. The floral note blends with the fruity flavors, giving the taste and aroma an artificial twist... The fruity sweetness of the tropical guava flavor is slightly disrupted by this odd combination.
The aftertaste leaves a sweet and tangy guava flavor lingering in the mouth, which adds to the satisfaction. While there’s no residue left, the lingering guava aftertaste fades naturally, offering a pleasant and smooth finish. It’s quite a satisfying flavor.
If you were expecting a rich, fruity, and fleshy sensation, it may come off as cheap in flavor. However, the Baja Guava Lime itself offers a smooth sweetness and finish that’s easy to drink, with no sharp acidity, and feels like a solid product. That being said, would I repeat purchase it? That’s a bit uncertain. While it's a good product, I prefer a flavor with a bit more fruitiness and complexity (^_^;)
Energy Ingredients in ROCKSTAR BAJA GUAVA LIME
Contains 160mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine, 50mg of carnitine, 50mg of inositol, milk thistle, ginseng, and guarana. It contains no fruit juice.
Design of ROCKSTAR BAJA GUAVA LIME
The design features a Mexican-style skull. Energy drinks from major American brands around 2019 often had a skull design. It’s impactful and stands out on store shelves, and the design definitely sparks curiosity about the flavor inside.
The eyes of the skull are filled with guava, and the Baja series shares a common design with repetitive skull stamps, like a copy-pasted pattern.
The big star design includes the Baja series logo on the left side.
The big star design feels a bit sparse overall, with empty space that seems to be filled by the skull stamps.
ROCKSTAR BAJA GUAVA LIME has a decent flavor and design, but in the U.S., it was discontinued within a year of release. It’s still available in Europe, and the reasons for that will be covered in my review of the European Baja series.
