In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of ROCKSTAR ENERGY COLA
When you open the can, a rich cola aroma bursts out. It's that typical cola scent with a lot of sugar and sweeteners, giving you the distinct cola smell.
The color is dark red, just like regular cola. If you were expecting an intense, eye-catching color because it’s an energy drink, you might be disappointed. It looks just like cola!
When poured, the typical fizzy bubbles of cola rise up, but the carbonation itself isn’t very strong; it’s more of a mild, lightly carbonated cola.
Tasting it… it has an overall regular cola flavor with no strange aftertaste, leaving a clean, refreshing taste. After finishing, the cola scent lingers, so while it’s light in flavor, it doesn’t feel lacking.
It’s tasty even at room temperature, but when chilled, the sweetness and refreshment combine to make it a pretty great cola flavor! The crispness makes you want to take the next sip, and if I weren’t reviewing it carefully, I’d probably finish it in no time ( *´艸`*)
The subtle “refreshing” feeling I’m describing might be hard to convey, but it’s not a watered-down or zero-calorie flavor. I think this cola flavor would be easily accepted by people who like Coca-Cola.
However, while it’s easy to drink, it lacks the intensity, richness, and punch that energy drink lovers are used to, so I suspect it didn’t get the best reviews from people accustomed to the bold flavors of energy drinks. This is the tricky part, isn’t it...? Selling a cola flavor at more than twice the price of Coca-Cola or Pepsi was always going to be a tough sell, and it’s understandable that Rockstar Cola was discontinued in both North America and Europe.
Energy Ingredients of Rockstar Energy Cola
It contains 160mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine, 50mg of guarana, and 50mg of ginseng, which are all standard Rockstar energy ingredients.
Unlike Red Bull Cola, there’s no unique ingredient blend here. Looking at it this way, it’s impressive that Red Bull Cola is still around.
Rockstar Energy Cola Can Design is Amazing
The matte texture, the 16oz size, and the thickness are the perfect size with an incredible sense of luxury. The Rockstar logo and star logo shine in matte gold, and the text is crisply engraved in fine white letters. The balance of these design elements is fantastic. Many people will surely be charmed by the design of Rockstar Cola.
It’s labeled as an energy supplement, not an energy drink. I suspect this product is from around 2009 to 2010.
It first launched in 2004, was discontinued for a while, and was then relaunched in 2009 with this black matte version of Rockstar Energy Cola.
The tab is black. If it had been a gold tab, it would have been perfect (u_u*)
