Released in January 2024, the ROCKSTAR FOCUS HONEYDEW MELON is part of Rockstar’s new Zero Zero series.
Initially, three flavors were announced following the launch of the ROCKSTAR FOCUS series, but upon release, an additional four flavors, including ROCKSTAR FOCUS HONEYDEW MELON, were introduced in the Western U.S. region, bringing the total to seven flavors launched simultaneously.
This series is Rockstar’s attempt to align with current trends, especially after falling significantly behind CELSIUS in the U.S. energy drink market share. In this review, I’ll take a closer look at how well this design and flavor will be received.

Flavor of ROCKSTAR FOCUS HONEYDEW MELON
Upon opening the can, a sweet and gentle melon aroma wafts through. The liquid is a pale green. Let’s take a sip.
As I take a sip, it’s a light sweetness from the melon flavor. It’s not too sweet and has a refreshing taste that reminds me of melon flesh, with a slight tartness in the aftertaste that enhances the melon’s umami.
And the melon’s excellent aroma becomes apparent as I drink. The balance between the taste and aroma is so well-crafted, it’s truly surprising!
The ROCKSTAR FOCUS series features lightly flavored sparkling water-type drinks, but this particular melon flavor stands out with a remarkably high level of accuracy in recreating the fresh taste and scent of melon flesh. Among the many melon-flavored drinks available worldwide, I’m genuinely impressed by how well this one has been made.
The taste is light, so the aftertaste doesn’t linger, and I can enjoy the refreshing sensation of the carbonation. The melon’s refreshing aroma lingers just the right amount, making it a satisfying drink. This is a standout in the ROCKSTAR FOCUS series for capturing the essence of fruit flavor. It’s easily one of the best in terms of recreating the flavor of the fruit itself.
Energy Ingredients of ROCKSTAR FOCUS HONEYDEW MELON
Contains 200mg of caffeine, lion’s mane mushroom, milk thistle, taurine, and guarana.
The lion’s mane mushroom is a unique ingredient in the ROCKSTAR FOCUS series, and I haven’t seen it used in any other energy drinks. While it’s said to have various benefits, research on its effectiveness is still insufficient, so it seems best to consider it as a feature for image purposes.
Design of ROCKSTAR FOCUS HONEYDEW MELON
The combination of white, light green, and black gives a clean, modern feel, and the simple design sets it apart from the typical energy drink aesthetic. The balance of the elements and spacing is well-executed and visually appealing.
In recent years, Rockstar has been using overly large stars on their packaging, which resulted in a flawed design where essential information was missing. However, with the ROCKSTAR FOCUS series, everything from the flavor name, logo, brand name, series name, and key ingredients are beautifully arranged, making it very pleasing to the eye.
On the side, the key ingredients and icons are listed, but they seem to be there just to fill space and don’t carry much meaning. It would be nice if there were elements that reflect the product concept or drinking scenarios.
The ROCKSTAR FOCUS series seems to have been released in response to the growing success of CELSIUS, which has significantly increased its market share. Initially, only three flavors were announced, but four more were added in the Western U.S., bringing the total to seven flavors launched simultaneously.
It’s rare to see a brand release this many flavors at once, and it’s clear that Rockstar is seriously trying to compete in the new energy drink scene that CELSIUS has helped create.
Since January 2024, almost all of Rockstar’s posts on their official website and social media have been about the ROCKSTAR FOCUS series.
It seems that they view the ROCKSTAR FOCUS series as more appealing to today’s new consumer base, shifting away from the traditional image of energy drinks.
If that’s the case, it’s possible that all the other flavors will follow suit with designs that align with a stylish lifestyle.
