ROCKSTAR FOCUS ORANGE PINEAPPLE
Released in January 2024. The ROCKSTAR FOCUS series, launched with a clean image under the "Zero Zero" concept, now features the Orange Pineapple flavor.
This series seems to be a response to CELSIUS, which has been steadily increasing its market share in the U.S., surpassing Rockstar. As you can see, it’s clearly different from traditional energy drinks in terms of flavor, ingredients, and design. I’ll review the taste, ingredients, and design in detail.

In 2001, while living in the United States, I encountered energy drinks through the dance scene and was deeply impressed. After returning to Japan, I found that energy drinks were considered novelty beverages, so I established a comprehensive website in 2013 to share the true appeal of energy drinks. As an energy drink enthusiast, I began drinking them seriously again, collecting over 7,000 varieties of energy drinks from various countries. I am also active as a critic and expert, receiving media interviews.
Flavor of ROCKSTAR FOCUS ORANGE PINEAPPLE
When opened, a sweet and refreshing pineapple scent bursts out. The liquid is a light orange color. Let's take a sip.
When I take a sip, the pineapple orange flavor has just the right amount of acidity and a smooth, clear drinking feel that doesn't leave an aftertaste. Rather than being a strong mix of sweetness and acidity, the flavor is more of a fragrance that recreates the taste.
It’s easy to imagine the taste as a sparkling water with flavor added. The texture is light, smooth, and easy to drink, with almost no aftertaste.
Instead of expecting the sensation of fruit pulp or a rich taste typical of energy drinks, it’s best to enjoy this as a clear, refreshing flavored water.
Whether you consider the “subtle flavor” a lack of richness or a fresh and hydrating experience that doesn't leave unnecessary flavors behind will depend on your personal taste.
Personally, I rate it highly, especially considering its “Zero Zero” aspect. The refreshing drinkability really soothes a tired body. Although it’s only available in the western United States, I’m happy to see seven flavors launched simultaneously, and I hope this series continues for a long time.
Energy Ingredients of ROCKSTAR FOCUS ORANGE PINEAPPLE
Contains 200mg of caffeine, lion’s mane mushroom, milk thistle, taurine, and guarana.
Lion’s mane mushroom is a unique ingredient in the ROCKSTAR FOCUS series, and I haven't seen it in other energy drinks. While it’s said to have various benefits, research into its effectiveness is insufficient, so it’s probably best to consider it as an image ingredient.
Design of ROCKSTAR FOCUS ORANGE PINEAPPLE
The white slim can features orange and black, giving it a clean and contrasting look. This ROCKSTAR FOCUS series is seen as a response to the CELSIUS series, which has been expanding its market share in the United States, and it stands out with a simple and clean image that's different from traditional energy drinks.
The straightforward star logo fits neatly on the front, and all necessary information, including the brand name, series name, flavor name, and key ingredients, are displayed clearly.
It may seem too obvious to mention, but actually, the lack of these essential details on the front has been a design flaw in Rockstar’s cans in recent years. I’m relieved to see that the ROCKSTAR FOCUS series finally comes with a decent design.
The side of the can lists the same ingredients as the front. It seems these were simply added because there was available space, and there's not much purpose behind their placement.
When the ROCKSTAR FOCUS series was first revealed, only three flavors were announced. From the ingredients and design, it’s clear that the series is targeting CELSIUS, but I thought they would just release a few similar products. However...
Seven flavors were released simultaneously in the western United States. It’s rare for such a large number of flavors to be launched at once, even in energy drink powerhouse America.
Having lost market share to CELSIUS, Rockstar likely wanted to recover its position. While it seems practically impossible to close the gap at this point, regardless of CELSIUS, I personally like the sparkling water-style zero-zero flavored series, and I hope it continues for as long as possible.
