Flavor of ROCKSTAR JAMAICA COOLER

Upon opening the can, a rich, sweet and sour cherry and ume (plum) gum-like aroma bursts out. I was surprised by how intense the fragrance was, especially considering the light and white appearance of the can (*´ｪ`*)

The color is a bright, transparent shade reminiscent of acerola juice, which contrasts with the strong fragrance, making it look clear and refreshing.

I took a sip and…

The taste is just as expected, with a sweet and sour cherry flavor, along with a somewhat artificial strawberry-like sweetness. The balance of sweetness and sourness is perfect. The aftertaste lingers with a subtle ume gum-like acidity and fragrance, though the exact flavor is hard to pinpoint.

It seems like the distinct bitterness of acerola juice has been removed, leaving a pleasant aroma and a unique flavor. It’s hard to describe, but it tastes incredibly delicious (*´艸｀*)

Jamaica Hibiscus Tea

There’s hardly any aftertaste left, and both the aroma and flavor stand out while remaining easy to drink. It feels like a very well-crafted drink, especially when chilled to perfection.

After doing a bit of research, I learned that the "Jamaica Cooler" flavor is inspired by Jamaica Hibiscus Tea, a popular drink in Mexico during the summer.

Now that it’s pointed out, I can definitely sense that flavor profile. It also reminded me of the somewhat vague sensation of the Japanese Red Bull Spring Edition 2016, which tastes quite similar. I believe the reason Jamaica Cooler feels more natural and smooth compared to Pink Bull is because of its fresher, more natural flavors.

In Mexico, it’s common to drink chilled hibiscus tea during the summer. While I’m not sure how it compares to the real thing, Jamaica Cooler offers a well-balanced flavor, refreshing cooling sensation, crisp aftertaste, and the bubbly carbonation all working together. If it weren’t for the "what exactly is this flavor?" feeling, I’d say it’s one of the best flavors in recent releases (●´ω｀●)

Energy Ingredients of ROCKSTAR JAMAICA COOLER

It contains 160mg of caffeine, 2000mg of taurine, 100mg of ginseng, and 40mg of milk thistle, but surprisingly no guarana.

Personally, I feel that the caffeine level in this is just right (ｕ_ｕ*)

Why It Didn't Fit the Recovery Series

I thought this could have been released as a recovery series product, both as a tea and electrolyte drink, but I suspect that if the carbonation were removed, the impression of the Jamaica Cooler would change completely. Just taking away one element can drastically alter the taste experience.

While I think the design could have been refined, with influences from Mexico and hibiscus tea, the simple design may not fully communicate what the flavor is. Before trying it, I had no idea what to expect from the drink.

Perhaps in regions with a lot of Mexican influence, the name "Jamaica" and the color could create the right associations. Considering the region where Circle K is located, maybe an explanation wasn’t necessary. It’s fascinating how much you can imagine and speculate about an energy drink!

Still, this was a significant hit for me compared to other recent releases from major energy drink brands, which I found disappointing (*´ｪ`*)
