This is a review of the 2015 release, ROCKSTAR LIME FREEZE from the Freeze Series. Although this product does not have the "Freeze Series" label in the US, it is being released under the Freeze Series name in countries outside the US. For convenience, I am also referring to it as part of the Freeze Series here.

Flavor of ROCKSTAR LIME FREEZE

Upon opening, the carbonation bursts out, and a refreshing lime scent fills the air. Since I particularly love lime and other citrus flavors, I was already hooked at this point (；´∀｀)

I expected something like transparent lime water, but when poured, it was a slightly cloudy, pale color resembling Pocari Sweat. Well, this matches the packaging and flavor name of Lime Freeze, so no surprises there.

The flavor is indeed lime, but the acidity is just enough to provide a refreshing feel, and there’s a lingering sweetness. Unlike typical lime flavors that focus on acidity, this one expresses lime’s freshness and sweetness instead.

I had expected it to be more intense, so it turned out quite different from my initial impression. It’s tasty, but I feel like there’s something missing.

FEEL THE FREEZE

Not only is it a lime flavor, but as a characteristic of the Freeze Series, when you drink the Lime Freeze at close-to-room temperature, you can feel a menthol-like cooling refreshing sensation alongside the lime's freshness. By keeping the acidity in check, it doesn't get overly sweet, which adds to that sense of freshness.

However, if it’s chilled too much, the coldness overtakes and the refreshing feeling is nearly lost. It’s still delicious when cold, but to fully experience the Freeze Series sensation, I’d recommend not chilling it too much (●´ω｀●)

Of course, chilling it to the max and drinking it on a hot summer day is also great ( ´∀｀)b

Energy Ingredients of ROCKSTAR LIME FREEZE

With 160mg of caffeine, this is a standard amount for Rockstar. Considering recent caffeine-related incidents, there’s no need to go too strong. After all, it seems not many people choose energy drinks solely based on energy ingredients these days... (；´∀｀)

As always, it contains 2000mg of taurine, guarana, and other ingredients.

Beautiful Color Design

The neon lime green with a swirling design that seems to echo thunder creates a strong impression, and you’d expect the taste to be just as intense. However, both the flavor and ingredients are not overwhelmingly strong. But the look is definitely striking!

The stormy lime green and white is bold, but it’s grounded with black accents and topped with a black cap, with a green pull tab to match—an impeccable design. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it before the release. In person, it radiates the energy drink vibe, making it one of my favorite cans.

I think the striking design and color make energy drinks particularly attractive. The Freeze Series, in particular, tends to have this strong appeal, and I believe it draws many people in (*´艸｀*)

Australia’s Lime Freeze

In Australia, the product was released with the “LIME FREEZE” label and the same design as in the US. Meanwhile, in Europe, all of the Freeze Series products clearly carry the “FREEZE” label, so Australia’s release with this particular design is unique.

When poured into a glass, I could smell a slightly artificial, dust-like odor, which reminded me of Rockstar’s sour apple flavor from Australia that I couldn’t finish.

The flavor itself is mild in acidity, and it’s a refreshing lime-based carbonated drink. When served with lots of ice, it feels like a carbonated water with lime slices, delivering a refreshing experience. The smell is tolerable once you start drinking, but when you bring your face close to the glass, it still lingers, making the drink feel a bit off.
